Bussiere was tapped to replace former Vice Chief of Staff Gen. Jim Slife, who was fired in February along with several other military leaders. It is not yet clear if the nomination was pulled with the intention of resubmitting for another role.

IF he's blocking the promotion of a more (or equal but younger) capable command officer, then it is fine.
If not, training/testing must ramp up because they are there, they just haven't been located yet. And THAT is the point of Hegseth's program here.
