Kelly’s postgame locker room speech

I just watched the postgame locker room speech posted on Tiger Droppings. If a coach wanted to destroy a team’s morale he couldn’t have done a better job. Kelly should have congratulated the defense for playing their hearts out and apologized they were pushed beyond reasonable expectations to stop OM after being on the field for so many plays. He then should have said we can’t win games in the SEC with this offensive performance.
I was thinking we could keep Kelly and replace Sloan and Davis. Now I think Kelly can’t stay either. But where do you come up with 50 to 60 million dollars? Woodward saddled us with this problem. Think about it, we fire O and set the narrative that LSU is going to land a big time coach then 4 years later you think Miles and O were better than your 100 million dollar big time coach. I wonder what the big money donors are thinking and saying now.

There’s a lot you can knock Kelli for, but I don’t see anything wrong with what he said after the game.

Link to the speech?

There's a lot of justified piling on Kelly, but that post game speech isn't one of them. He was 100% right that the units were inconsistent

Hey coach, this sounds like a quality "team effort" speech. Nothing screams team effort like pitting one side against the other!

It's not exactly the message I would have put out there, but I think you're spinning it to sound worse because you're angry we lost. His message was essentially that we need to be consistent drive by drive and not lose focus. I think that's a good message, but I also would have liked to hear him rip into coaches like he did after LA Tech.
My concern there would be that if players hear you saying that it's the coach's fault, it lets them off the hook and makes them think they can take it easy. I'd be worried this team would lose its edge if they thought the coaching staff was holding them back. Reminds me of 2023 defense. They had no trust in Matt House and it often showed.

My only complaint with the speech is that he said when one side of the ball is playing well, the other side isn't.
He's right that the defense needed to step up and get off the field on third down to help themselves out, but that is only because the offense is so awful.
Offense played an awful game. Defense was just gassed by the 4th quarter.

Jesus y’all are losing your minds over this game. It’s obvious the most vocal “fans” here just don’t like Kelly.
The defense couldn’t get a stop in the final 5 mins. He was 100% correct that it wasn’t complementary football. In the first half with the offense or in the final 5 mins for the defense. He didn’t place the blame on 1 single unit, nor should he.

Ok cool, as long as you thought about.
How much can we put you down for? 100k? 200k would be better.
Who do you big "thinkers" is going to shite 100 million dollars which is about what it will cost if you want to keep our good players, buy new players, buy new high school players, buy a new staff and pay off the current staff.

I know 2 of them, Kelly isnt going anywhere.

Yeah, the OP just doesn't like Brian Kelly and this is fine. But don't criticize a speech that had ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong in its content. The lack of offense is responsible for the loss for the most part. But the defense on here gets too much credit. He is absolutely right that the defense has to get off the field on 3rd downs...especially long ones like I believe a 3rd and 14. Ole Miss was throwing those short slant and stop patterns all game long and LSU never stopped them.
Please don't let this get around because this is a secret. {whispering} if your offense goes 3 and out there is no NCAA rule against forcing the other team to go 3 and out also. I hope I don't get into trouble with the NCAA for passing along that secret.

What a complete moron still trying to blame a defense that gave up only 24 total points.
They gave up 7 points in the second half, but he’s bitching about their second half performance and not complimenting an offense that could only score a single TD in that second half.
Kelly is an utter moron. The defense wasn’t great but played well enough to win the game. The offense, on the other hand, did not play well enough to win the game and made it harder on everyone.
The coaches made it harder on everyone. When you hire incompetent coaches and their awful plan and lack of adjustments leads to a loss, stop blaming the players.

At the same time, he can’t baby them either because the defense wasn’t without fault. They responded to the offense’s TD drive by allowing an 18 play drive.
The offense definitely hung them out to dry after that.

I’m going to guess most of you who disagree with my topic aren’t well experienced in leadership. It’s what I’ve done for 40 years. I can tell you right now, this is not how you inspire and motivate anyone. If you blame the productive people for the failures of the unproductive people you are basically telling them their production, no matter how valuable, isn’t enough because they also have to produce at a level to cover the unproductive people. But when you reward productive people and demand the unproductive to produce at their level you raise the entire organization’s production.

How much coaching have you done?
BK’s been doing this for 40 years. Leave it to the experts

People are so soft these days. He didn’t scream or yell. He was stern and let them know where they messed up. You’re looking to be upset

I’m not angry we lost. I expected that. I’m disappointed that we can’t expect victory against good teams. I’m just pointing out how you can demoralize your team.

That’s my point exactly.
