Bill Russell is one of the greatest ever and won more rings than anyone in the history of the sport. I think retiring the number league wide is a little overboard for any player, even MJ, but don't knock Bill Russell or his accomplishments. He's a legend.

There wasn’t very many teams back in the day. It is a completely different sport.

It’s widely known that Kyle Korver was actually the greatest/most influential Civil Rights activist in NBA history and Bill Russell noted this on several occasions.
