You can see it in the TrumpRX thread.

Why they pretend, we may never know. Maybe they are totally confused. However, CONSERVATISM is not "no gov" involvement. It has never been that.

There are times when Gov does have to act. It should be limited however. Stepping in and telling a drug company that they can not gouge the American people because Europeans won't pay up is one of those times. Why should Roger pay for Pepe La Pew's fat shots?

There are also times the American gov has to protect things that are supply chains and national security risks. The medicine issue was exposed in 2020. That has to be corrected or we are at the mercy of every other nation that wants to put the screws to us.

Capitalism requires government intervention to break up monopolies.

Conservatives job is to prevent overreach.

It's funny because a conservative's whole identity is reduction of government. That is, by nature, nearer to chaos.

Of course, in practice, almost all of us want a civil society... and sacrifice on pure freedom.

it's the result of ideological purity tests. it's the other side of the same coin that has lefties saying men can get pregnant.

Anarchy is as far RIGHT as the spectrum goes.

Socialism, Fascism and finally Communisn are as far left as the spectrum goes.

American conservatism is the belief in a very strict view of the Constitution and striving to keep within the bounds of "original intent." Naturally, people who desire the federal government to be involved in every aspect of our lives would consider conservatives to be anarchists since we are very vocal about small, limited federal government.

It has a legit role providing "public goods". Learn what a "public good" is.

agreed. but too many conservatives are trying to outconservative others which eventually leads to someone staking their flag on a "no government at all" hill which is ridiculous and unfeasible. in a normally functioning society, the balance to that would be a reasonable opposition.

Anarchy is the ridiculous extreme of the right just like all forms of authoritarianism are the ridiculous extremes of the left.

Thats not what he is saying. He is saying that there is a point at which its no longer conservative. It become anarchy.

The people he is talking about have a history of going after Trump over anything gov related.

In our history, never has the GOP been no gov. An example is anti trust. To those posters that is gov over reach and it should never happen. Historically, that has never been the case.

Republican Senator John Sherman was the primary author of the Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890, the first federal law to outlaw monopolies and anticompetitive practices.

Taft filed even more antitrust suits than Roosevelt, continuing the Republican Party's early legacy of aggressive antitrust enforcement.

A Trump example is this announcement today. He isn't picking winners and losers he is across the board that drug companies will charge the US citizen equally to what they sell it to the Europeans.

This is oversimplification to the point of falseness.

Conservatism’s goal is to shorten the distance and layers between the governed and the governors.

Local legislation and control is great.

My HOA is pretty authoritarian. But I’m mostly fine with it because it is fewer than 200 homes, similar owners with a vested stake and therefore far more responsive to the real needs of our community.

My city is less authoritarian. But far more authoritarian than my state.

Saying conservatism will always favor less government in favor of more is a dumb proposition.

The problem is US medicine is virtually socialized. The government controls care, reimbursement, and insurance. In that model, the way to profit is via government influence.

Were that not the case, you'd have a point.

Pharma has long taken advantage of its control of government through lobbying, benefitting from those government controls.

Retail Canadian pharmaceuticals were so much cheaper than US wholesale prices that US drugstores appealed for permission to buy from Canadian retailers instead of US wholesale distributors. Thanks to Pharma lobbying, the effort was shot down. That is not "free market" stuff, Rog.

Drugs overseas in some instances are marketed at multiples lower than in the US. No "free market" works that way.

It does. In this case, they are drawing a line to protect the US citizen from unfair practices.

The GOP did not remove the ACA and they never will.

So why screw the American people twice?
