I’m Athletic trainer of 9 years with pro sports experience. Nuss in my mind has a Rectus Abdominus tear and is attempting to play through it. Very common overuse injury with rotational athletes. This is the same injury Myles Brennan had but his was due to a hit.

Would be the perfect explanation for his lack of power (won’t explain his mental mistakes however).

This is the perfect kind of injury that you can play through and manage symptoms but will never be 100%. Would assume Nuss opted to play through and get it fixed after the season hoping to perform well and not effect his draft status.

Ultimately in my opinion it’s going to take someone benching him or him admitting he isn’t 100%.

Core Muscle Tears

Here’s more information.

Tldr: we’re fricked

He’s playing really badly. Is he not being benched because MVB isn’t half as good as what we think?

I had the same feeling that it was similar to Brennan with the way both were very cryptic in discussing it initially. I think Myles Brennan had to be much worse.
If Nuss is hurt he needs to hang it up and salvage his draft status to maybe a 2nd round. That way teams will know that he is hurt and explains his terrible play. If he keeps putting up turd performances without saying he is working thru an injury, he will fall off the draft.

Maybe, but throwing into double and triple coverage multiple times shows that he's not progressing through reads, or simply doesn't see the coverage...Either one is scary in itself, but both at a time is downright awful football.

I think you are quite correct. Nuss needs to sit the bye week and the SC game. Otherwise, he is destroying his potential NFL career.

He really couldn't get zip on most of his passes on Saturday. It was bizarre and something like this would explain it. Just doesn't look like himself, the ball isn't shooting out of his hand like it used to.

Mental stuff is different, but that can impact the mental game for sure.

Offseason surgery would probably affect his draft status

On that interception I think he normally targets the deeper route.

On that Chris Hilton ball that was severely underthrown, he was open and hits that pass in stride last year. He physically couldn't get it there I don't think. shite the 50 yard play he lobbed high in the air and underthrew the receiver. We just got lucky.

I’d be more upset if they get to the draft and suddenly start hyping how badly he was injured. And we waste possibly the best defense we’ve had in some time. I know that’s a selfish statement but damn yall.

Same for the ball in the LA Tech game, I was sitting in the south stadium club and raised my hands when the receiver broke free and the ball ended up short.

And maybe he's just not telling the coaches and doctors how much pain he's in and it's just a bad strain so he can recover this season.

Needs to sit in the ice bath 3 times a day and warm wrap when he's out of it. Some anti-inflammatories and hyperbaric chamber time sprinkled in.

And not throw a damn football all week leading up to the bye.

If true, they is he playing/why is BK allowing him to play.

Nuss is clearly hurting the team with his current level of play and if really due to injury you have to sit him.

And if he’s playing that poorly without an injury, it’s even worse and more a reason to sit him.
