Geaux Tigers,
Bringing my dad, West Point class of 66, to the army/Tulane game on October 18. Will be flying in that Friday afternoon and looking for a solid restaurant recommendation. Will be staying downtown French Quarter area, but willing to Uber really any place
I’ve been to New Orleans often, but either for college shenanigans 25 years ago or on business trips
Not looking for super high-end, but something where we could enjoy a nice meal and a couple of cocktails with it
Thanks

Peche
Cochon
I think would be among the best options. Getting food unique to the region while still high end but not “fine” or stuffy dining

The old Isidore Newman “concession stand” setup.

Gautreau’s has also opened up their more casual bar next door, Avengo. Would be a good spot for pre or post-game drinks and snacks.

If it’s the Quarter GW Fins. But I’d consider taking an Uber to Clancy’s Brigtsen’s Uptown.

If you're in the mood for something a little different, like Mediterranean, I recommend Shaya's.

Emeril's, Bayona-historic old Creole cottage in FQ with courtyard, Dakar, N7.

Judging from what he said in the OP, I seriously doubt he is wanting to drop 700 bucks on a very fancy Michelin type tasting menu meal

Dakar
Not quite as expensive but same concept
