How do y'all negotiate on new cars

Been driving the same car since High School. Feel like getting something brand new
Say I wanted to buy this 2025 Toyota Camry and the 2026 Camrys are already out. How much could I "reasonably" knock off it?
This would be in a mid size city in Louisiana. Think like Alexandria or Lafayette.

Hank Hill taught me that you pay sticker and not a penny more.

The simplest way is to go to a website like www.truecar.com
Shop New Cars and put in this cars parameters. It will give you a price range and what the average price paid in your zip code.

I can tell you negotiating the price on a new Toyota right now isn’t happening. You might get them to knock off $500. Their demand exceeds supply.

Figure out TTL and what ever other BS dealer options they tacked on, probably 37 out the door, just figure out what I want to pay and offer them that. If they say no I thank them for their time, they’ll call you within a hour saying ok, then knock some more off.

use carmax/carfax etc to find the one you want and is listed for a fixed price. A used 15000 miler has a whole lot more value than new car salesman can offer.

Wait till the end of the year and pay invoice price on the ‘25 model.
I got an accord last year, sticker was 31k and I paid 28 even. I’m sure it’s about the same for Camrys.

Are you paying cash or financing?

If you can buy that car at that price with no dealer add on fees, that is an excellent deals.

You paid 28 + tax, or 28+ 900 fees + finance charge?

Cargurus.com has that exact same car in Bradenton Florida for $27,549.
That is already a few thousand lower than your price and it's only 500 miles away. Call them and tell them to knock the price of your ticket off and gas to get back and you'll buy it.
Tell them to send you the offer in writing in advance.
Fly out and buy your car and don't haggle at all. OR, use that price to get your local dealership to come down to that.
Simple...

I always thought people made way too much of a fuss about it. Without getting attached, figure out what you think is a fair price for the car you want. Go the the dealer and tell them you'll pay them that much. They'll start talking about a million irrelevant things. Be friendly without actually caring what they're saying and then say "cool, here's my email if you change your mind". Then watch your email.

The reality is you aren’t gonna get much of a discount. They don’t really have to. Someone will buy it for what they want to sell it.
The days of getting a bunch off sticker are gone

Last 3 cars I bought I did my homework and knew a reasonable price before walking in the door. I told the sales manager I would finance with them to get a better deal. Then after a month refinanced with my credit union for a better rate.
