Any way Judge doesn't win MVP

Judge .329
.452 OBP
49 HR
.677 SLG
1.129 OPS
8.9 WAR
Cal Raleigh .246
.361 OBP
57 HR
.586 SLG
.947 OPS
6.9 WAR
Any chance there's voters fatigue like the NBA/NFL? By the numbers Judge should still win handily. Seattle likely to win the AL west.

No. There was a stretch where Judge was very cold and Cal was on heater where the odds got pretty close, but Judge and Ohtani are basically locks at this point.

Fansgraph has their WARs closer (9.1 to 8.5 in favor of Judge). Properly valuing catchers is harder than other positions. I could see the voters giving it to Raleigh considering he's one of the best defensive catchers in the game and what he's doing at the plate is unprecedented for his position. It could also be argued that Raleigh is more valuable to his team considering the Mariners and Yankees have almost identical records despite the Mariners having close to half the payroll. If Judge didn't already have two MVPs (including one last year) he'd 100% get it, but voter fatigue is a real thing (conscious or not). If I was a betting man I'd take Raleigh to win (current odds are around +300). Great value bet.

I read something, maybe on here, that said, if you take 180 points off Raleigh’s OPS, he’s an average player. If you take 180 from Judge, he’s Cal Raleigh. So, there you go.

Is it best hitter or MVP?
How much is Raleigh’s value over other catchers vs Judge’s compared with other DHs?

If you ask 100 people which player they'd want on their team, 100 of them are saying Judge.

Yeah, just not in the playoffs

The mariners are no where near the team they are without CAL, how he manages the pitches staff needs to be taken into account.

Only -250 is closer odds than I expected

If he gets to 60 homers and the Mariners win the West, my guess is he wins it.

I’d like to see Judge catch ONE inning or try to hit from the left handed side of the plate. Cal gets my vote

This is so a fricking dumb.

If the award is only for offense it is Judge. If it is for overall value to the team I pick Raleigh. Catching is way more valuable than corner outfield/DH. Think I saw Judge has 55 games this season as DH. So over a third of the season not any defensive value to the team. Raleigh is out there catching almost daily which is a value not only to a defense but to every pitcher. I don’t see Seattle in the playoff picture without Raleighs first half carried on his shoulders. The Yankees would probably still be there without Judge.

This is incorrect. Yankees are only 3 games clear of missing the playoffs as of this morning.
I agree with most of the rest of your points.

Raleigh is the pick. Judge feasts on a little league park

Cal has 23 games at DH
Cal has been worse defensively this year than in the past.
The Yankees record without Judge is 11 games under .500 over the past two years and 4 games under .500 this year.

Judge would have 1 more HR if he played in Seattle's park.
Of Raleigh's 54HRs, only 45 would have left Yankee stadium.

So now we just say things. Raleigh has his least amount of errors in a season when he has played in more than 100 games. His highest fielding percentage of his career when playing more than 100 games. A catcher with his numbers is more valuable defensively than a right fielder/DH.
