Is Gavin Newsom the Epitome Of A Phony, Sell-Out Politician?

I mean, I don't get this guy at all. Up until fairly recently, it was clear that Newsome's strategy for hopefully winning the Presidency in 2028 was to position himself as some sort of moderate. By Democrat Party standards, anyway. He came out AGAINST transgenders being allowed to play in women's sports. He also started a podcast where he has been interviewing conservatives like Steve Bannon and others.
But within the last month or so, Newsom has appeared to abandon that strategy. He's been aggressively militant towards ICE. He's voiced some incindiary language towards both Trump and Charlie Kirk, and his tweet within the past day against Kristi Noem reads more like a threat than just empty rhetoric.
Did somebody convince him that a "moderate" could not win the 2028 Democrat Party nomination? If so, I agree with that. The Schumer's and Pelosi's, both symbols of professional politicians, don't control the Democrat Party anymore, and seem to be falling out of favor more each day with the radical base of their party.
Imo, Newsom won't be the Democrat nominee in 2028 regardless of how he decides to position himself. If by some minor miracle he does get the nomination, Vance or Rubio would have a field day against this phony, just like Ron DeSantis chewed him up in that 2024 debate (Newsom's wife had to basically throw in the towel).

The left is a mess. He is "trying" to be a populist. They are so tone deaf that its almost comical if it were not getting life and death serious.
Hopefully the midterms bring the classical Dems back towards to the center

He is a narcissist and does not like being challenged. He looks at himself as a white knight that must try to right every wrong (according to what he believes is right and wrong).

White women aren’t exactly the toughest crowd to manipulate.

This is my guess. It's really a delicate act. A Democrat has to go hard enough left to satisfy the hard left fringe to get the nomination without going so hard that they lose the general election. This is why the DNC is forced to engage in such frickery in their primary......if they don't just cancel it altogether and let the party elites select their candidate.

Sell out? He had nothing to sell. He grew up as a kid whose dad was an Attorney for the Getty family & they realized that he is just what they needed. A hot guy who is a great speaker who just happened to be close friends with Balthazar Getty(IMBD him) & they basically bankrolled him since he was in college. Look up his history. He is a pawn of the Getty family.

He's an entitled little princess.

My favorite is the montage of him promising to end homelessness in California that spans 20+ years

Exactly. It's an almost impossible dance.
Obtw, was it ever proven definitively that Newsom and Pelosi are related? That "rumor" has been going around for awhile, but they don't ever talk about it (surprise, surprise).

I don't remember anyone more fake than him. It's awful

Thanks for the heads up. I haven't read it yet, but here's a Newsweek article about Newsom, Pelosi, and Harris possibly having ties to the Getty family.
Politics stinks. This is one more reason why a true outsider like Trump is so universally hated by the corrupt Political. The Political Establishment only want "their own" in charge of running the country.

Mitch Romney and Cassidy say, yes, absolutely.

Over my career of political observation, he’s the epitome of a politician motivated by pure desire to be elected. He will do and say just about anything to keep himself viable.
He isn’t true to any real belief other than his own viability

It's the classic saying, you win the nomination by going to the extreme, then win the election by veering back to the middle.
He's working on becoming the democratic nominee for 2028 and picking up the Bernie voting bloc
