'I'm on Jimmy Kimmel's side on that one,' he told reporters on Thursday, adding that he's 'for free speech.'

The former Tonight Show host predicted that Kimmel would weather the storm, which erupted after the host said that the 'the MAGA gang' is trying to paint Kirk's suspected killer 'as anything other than one of them.'

'I think Jimmy will land on his feet. He's a talented guy. He's funny. And let's see what happens,' Leno said. 'Maybe he might be on in just a couple of weeks again. So, we’ll see.'

The veteran host added that 'you don't get cancelled saying popular things.'

'Usually it's the truth that winds up getting [you] cancelled, so we'll see what happens,' he said.

Leno was blunt when addressing critics who praised Kimmel's suspension.

'It's a comedian talking. If you don't like it, don't watch it... Let the people decide,' he said. 'If people like a show, it stays on the air. I mean, it's as simple as that'.

Leno made the remarks after attending a ceremony honoring journalist Chris Wallace's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The people did decide.

No one was watching him and his show was losing money.

The people did decide, at the tune of costing the parent company $40MM from lack of success.

This is a case study in how the media can "successfully" spin a business decision into a contrived problem with a canned solution - straight out of Rules for Radicals.

"Chris Wallace's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame."

How did I miss that event?

Was it popular, Jay? Well, maybe within his Burbank bubble. I did think he was better than this, but not so.

If this was cable, he might have a point. Kimmel broke FCC rules and flat out lied about who the perp was days after everybody knew who MURDERED Charlie Kirk. The guy also had extremely low ratings so ABC saw their opportunity to finally get rid of him. In the end, Jimmy Kimmel was a political hack who stepped in his own shite.

It’s like giving Colbert an Emmy after his pathetic show was canceled. Wallace is so bad he is basically unemployable.

A comedian?

Maybe Leno can tell us what the fricking joke was? Where was the punch line?

Kimmel stopped being a comedian when he left The Man Show. After that, he just became another far left whackjob DNC shill.

Here's the statement -

quote:

“The MAGA Gang (is) desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel

He’s supposed to be a late night comic/host. Can one of our resident left-wing whackjobs tell us where the joke is? Where is the punch line? Does he even try to be funny?

Indeed it is. And that's why it's no longer on the air.

Not that simple Jay.

And the people did decide - Nexstar and Sinclair, and then Disney/ABC.

Disappointed but not surprised.

The situation isn’t how Jay described it. Of course his take is screwed up.

Jay just wanted to say what the network wanted to hear. He learned that angle works best, for him personally, long ago.

In a vacuum he’s totally correct. But context matters and Jimmy is not paid to get ratings. Hes paid to push propaganda.

Leno is a comedian, so obviously, he will defend Kimmel. The issue is Kimmel did not get canned for cracking tasteless jokes; he did that every night. He got canned for pushing lies about a political assassination.

And to Leno's point about letting the people decide, they did, which is why Kimmel's ratings were in the shitter. Kimmel just gave the networks an easy out for cutting dead weight.
