Auburn is out. They're not getting LSU, Bama, and Georgia. They'll get Miss State.

1. I’m hoping LSU doesn’t get Alabama as a permanent opponent because, LSU could end up having a home Halloween game. That would be my first Halloween LSU football game.

If I was in charge of ESPN, I would try to do a Halloween triple hitter

October 31 2026:
11:00 am CT Florida vs Georgia
* 2:30 pm CT Alabama @ Tennessee
* 6:30 pm CT Ole Miss @ LSU

Texas A&M, Ole Miss and Alabama is what I’d like to see.

Instead of A&M I would not mind getting Texas or Florida.

They might give us the three states surrounding us - Texas or Texas A&M/Ole Miss/Arkansas

Ole Miss is the only lock. Then it's between Bama, A&M, Arky, MSU and Florida.

Ole Miss, Arkansas, Miss State.

As out of conference, I want to play
Game1: Southern / McNeese / South Eastern / Nichols every year
Game2: LaTech or Tulane or ULL or Souther Miss every alternate year.
Game3: Home and Home basis, I want to play Baylor/Duke/Arizona/Kansas/Purdue/Syracuse/Virginia/Wake

No offense, that gives us at least 4 wins as the floor every year. That is something from which we can build.

If we go 11-2, no questions will be asked about strength of schedule on an year we avoid some of the super rich programs that will eventually dominate the SEC like Texas, TAMU, Georgia and Florida.

Go 8-4 and no one will care whom you played. You will be out.

There will be a Big 12/ACC team which will go 11-2 who have played 2 / 3 ranked teams and won 1 of those 2/3 games will get in over us.

We need the weakest possible schedule.

I know you over intelligent types want to play Alabama, Florida, Texas, Georgia and Florida every year but look at this you will lose 3 of those in an year and will be shut out of the playoffs.

Auburn will not be a permanent. They already have UGA and Bama.

I think we will get Ole Miss, Arkansas, and unfortunately A&M. I think Florida would be a better 3rd choice, but they are trying to create a rivalry between us and the Aggies and of course there is closer proximity.

I think Ole Miss and A&M are locks with the 3rd opponent being Moo U. or Arkansas.

Could you help me understand what having a game on Halloween has to do with having Bama as a permanent opponent?

The whole cache of the Alabama v. Tennessee game is it's played on the "Third Saturday in October"...which Halloween won't be.

if we keep Bama on the same weekend we always play Bama now, we'd have a bye around Halloween like we do now.

I think he is saying that LSU generally plays Alabama the first Sat. of November. Because of that, LSU, in recent years, has scheduled a bye week ahead of the Alabama game. Thus, if Alabama is not a permanent opponent,, there is no Alabama game on the first Sat. in November, and, therefore, no need for a bye the previous week...which next year would put a game on Halloween.

Why are they changing this again? I thought this was all finalized after the sec expanded. I just don’t keep up with scheduling or recruiting. Thanks.

I think it's going to be Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and Alabama. I think Ole Miss is the most certain opponent. I just hope they move that game back later in the year closer to Halloween. That's the game we try to go to, and it would be nice if we had some crisp fall weather for the Ole Miss game every year.

Bullseye

I'd like Auburn, Ole Miss, & Florida honestly, but I'd be ok with swapping Bama in for either OM or Aub

True, but I don't think the SEC would stick Auburn with LSU given Alabama and UGA are their traditional rivals. LSU never was until 92. In fact, Auburn and LSU rarely played prior to 92

LSU not having a "rival" makes it tough to predict LSU's permanent 3. But I think most are confident it will be 3 from this group:

Ole Miss, Miss. St, Arkansas, A&M, Alabama, Florida. That's the schools LSU has played the most over the course of history

That is a great plan if your goal is to get into the college playoffs almost every year and lose. If your goal is to win championships that probably hurts or is of no value. If LSU had had those candy-arse schedules for the last 25 years would we have more national championships? No. Our teams that didn’t play for the national championship weren’t good enough to win it.

What your schedule would accomplish, besides getting us an early exit from a lot of playoffs, would be to bore the living shite out of LSU fans.

Think over the last 25 years with your schedule. We would never have beaten Oregon in 2011, Virginia Tech in 2007, Texas in 2019, etc. BORING!
