Is The Untouchables a good movie?

I watched Road to Perdition the other night, and it was incredible. Couldn't ask for much more. Then I asked AI for something similar that I might like, and it spit out The Untouchables.
The Untouchables felt like watching a B movie compared to Road to Perdition. The over the top and out of place musical score probably had a lot to do with it, and how we're supposed to believe that Capone's attorney can get butthurt and change his client's plea to guilty and that's the end of Al Capone was ridiculous and implausible. The character development between the two movies was also night and day.
The Untouchables is a shitty movie in my opinion, sorry.

Kevin Coster came across as a little weenie when he was trying to fight Al Capone and talking shite in the hotel lobby. Same thing happened when he was talking trash to Capone in the courtroom after the sentence. It was the only comic relief in the entire movie.

Given your opinion on just about anything else, I'd except nothing less. BTW, your opinion is quite obviously worthless. And you are a shitty poster in my opinion. Sorry.

Great Movie. Score is a masterpiece.
Alot of the movie is based on actual Capone stories.
Pacing is off at times, a little uneven.
I did not know about the stairway scene being an homage (or theft) to Battleship Potemkin , but after watching both, it make sense.

The whole Nitty scene chasing him out of the courthouse to the rooftop and then deciding to simply toss him off the roof to his death was a case of Hollywood REALLY twisting the facts.
If the Nitty character was supposed to be Frank Nitti, one of Capone's main men, then they got it way wrong since he committed suicide in a rail yard when he was getting ready to be indicted on serious charges that would have had him in prison for decades.
Sean Connery was very good as the old beat cop but his getting shot at his house was over the top. You're supposed to believe a guy gets slammed by multiple rounds from a Thompson machine gun at damn near point blank range and lives for several minutes afterwards to give a message to Ness.
I find Costner to be a hot and cold actor, often coming off as stiff and almost disinterested in the role he's playing.

Billy Drago was such a good villain type character. Should’ve been used more in movies/TV.

No, it's terrible. One of Mamet's only misses.

It's great, has a nice cast, and has some great re-watchability too.

How do you keep up with all these goobers and what they post across different boards, including me. There are literally hundreds of them. Seems like an odd and bizarre skill you have there.

quote:Yep. I don't really have a problem with De Palma/Mamet taking creative license with the story, but if there's a weak spot in the movie it's Costner's wooden acting.

Is The Untouchables a good movie?
As a film based on actual history, it's horrible.
But it's got DiNero and Connery chewing scenery, plenty of catch-phrases, and Chicago looks like the city of Oz, so people don't care that it's a fairy tale.

It is a great movie that i would watch again. I probably won't watch Road to Perdition again even though i enjoyed it. The only other movie from that genre (old school gangster) that is better is Millers Crossing and the flashback scenes of Godfather II.

Road to Perdition wishes it could smell The Untouchables jock. Making a note to never take OP's opinion seriously.

Its silly from a historical prospective but I watched it many times as a kid with my old man so its one of those comfort food movies for me.

I feel that you'll eventually call me a poopyhead if I keep replying, but screw it. Your emotional age obviously has a ways to go before catching up the age on your drivers licenese (you come across as a frigging fruit loop!).

The cussing and shootouts and blood were the only three things preventing The Untouchables from feeling like a Disney movie
