Is he being arrested for his speech? Are there any legal repercussions for what he said?
It all boils down to him being held accountable for his actions, which is liberal's kryptonite.

He was an employee of ABC, therefore he had a responsibility to not represent the nerwork in an unflattering manner.
This is about an employer and an employee job performance.

Jimmy Kimmel is still free to say whatever he likes. He’s just not getting paid to do it by the people that used to pay him to do it anymore.

This sums it up for all these dirty shits that pop off and act surprised when there are consequences.

Nobody is saying he cant say what he wants legally, but he works for a private company and they dont like the way he represents the company and that to his ratings in the bumper and his absorbent salary it was a perfect storm of getting fired.

The FCC directly threatened abc to fire him.
Hate him all you want, that is overstepping by the government. Guess the right really did want big government after all.

He hasn't even been fired (yet). Just on an indefinite suspension.
He could apologize and ABC might put him right back on
Or this was a convenient way to cancel the show for lack of viewers (like Colbert) and the network not be the bad guy.

Blackface Jimmy is not being cancelled for what he said about Kirk. The media company only cares about dollars. Jimmy's rating were down and the his show was losing money. The comments he made about Kirk are just the excuse the company is using to get rid of the losses he was bringing in.

Most people don't really know what the first amendment is. Most people are pretty dumb.

Folks that don't understand the first amendment should probably just keep their mouth shut on this one. That includes OP.

Yea, I assume his numbers weren't great to begin with. You're not gonna get a major platform to piss off half the population while losing the company money.

I was hoping so too, but unfortunately, I don't see it. He didn't slander anyone, just said something really dumb.

The show was losing tens of millions/year - this was Disney’s scapegoat to get him off their payroll

Kimmel has the 1st amendment right to say whatever he likes.
ABC has the 1st amendment right to choose not to air what he says.
