Robert Redford died. May he Rest In Peace.
I did not agree with his politics, was not a fan, and did not care for most of his movies, EXCEPT, Jeremiah Johnson, absolutely loved that movie and he did a great job.
Even though he was an insufferable liberal I never hated him.

Good actor. Horrible politics.

89 is a good run. He seemed ageless for so long. Was on many "most handsome" lists for many, many years. While not the actor that his Butch and Sundance partner, Paul Newman, was, was really solid in roles that fit him. He was almost the sort of bridge between Spencer Tracy/Jimmy Stewart and Tom Hanks. He was perfect in those same sorts of roles, at least the dramatic ones (all of those others were better at comedy, it must be said, while Redford was obviously more traditionally handsome).
Obviously he is better known to younger audiences because of his association with the Sundance film festival, but there was a solid period where he was big Hollywood's go to "hunk" leading man - like 15 years.
(ETA: I largely did not agree with his politics.)

He was in some great films in my opinion. But yea, liberal activist drops him several rungs.

Out of Africa is one of the most beautifully shot films in cinematic history. I could watch that movie for the scenes and the score and edit out the dialogue and it would be captivating. He's ok in that and ok in the Sting. Other than that kind of blah.

they must fall in line with the collective or be blackballed out of the industry......

Redford, Paul Newman, and Robert Shaw in "The Sting" is hard to beat.
If you younger people haven't seen it, it's worth watching.
1973/4 flick. Nominated for 10 Academy awards, won 7. Ragtime music and two tone shows made a brief comeback in 70s.
And double breasted pinstripe suits with wide lapels and cuffs, BOOYAH!

A River Runs Through It was a good flick. The cinematography in that movie was awesome. The shots in the river were incredible.
Couldn't stand his politics but didn’t seem like a bad guy overall. He seemed to just be a product of his Hollywood environment.

Because, if they didn’t, then they’d never be allowed to become stars.

First off, sorry for his family and friends. I never really had anything against him one way the other, but I can’t say I ever cared for him much either because I thought he was a bit too full of himself, but I suppose that’s par for the course in Hollywood.
