A former co-worker planned a wedding in Bentonville on the evening of the Arkansas/ A&M game. Obviously, hotels in the Bentonville and Fayetteville areas are priced sky high. I am looking for recommendations for a town to book a hotel within a couple hours drive of Bentonville that will be in a safe area. Outside of the Stuttgart/Dewitt area I have never been to Arkansas and don't want to end up in the wrong spot. Also don't want to pay $500-$600 per night for a hotel.

I agree wholeheartedly. The bride and groom give zero fricks about football. I just want a safe, somewhat affordable place to sleep without getting carjacked.

Russellville is two hours away

Branson is within 2 hours. You could look at Big Cedar Lodge and see how the prices are there. I think you can get a room for less than that.
I’ll be there that weekend. It’s Dad’s weekend for the Greek system.

Good. More people need to quit giving a shite about football.

It’s more concerning that they planned a wedding during deer season.

Eureka Springs is an hour away. Touristy town. But close enough that hotels may also be impacted by the game. Just have to check.
There are several Air BnB type homes in Bella Vista, just north of Bentonville. Very safe, retirement type area. Might be difficult to rent anything for just one night though. Many have 2 or 3 night minimum.
The couple doesn't care about football, but they also don't care about their out of town guests who will be screwed on lodging costs due to inconsiderate scheduling.

Eureka Springs. Holiday Island.
Those two wouldn’t be bad for you just northeast of Bentonville.

There are alot of nice airbnbs up there.
We will be around that general area in a few weeks and there is a vast selection of cabins.

Thanks for all the suggestions. It's actually my wife's former co-worker and they are still good friends of ours. We don't see them very often since they moved to Arkansas. My wife didn't want to have to drive very far that late after the wedding, so I bit the bullet last night and booked a place in Bentonville.

You could probably get a room/studio cabin at a local fishing resort for $200 a night; something like Spider Creek and hit up the trout before you leave.
