This team is built different than a lot of teams of recent. Is that a bad thing? No. It’s just this fanbase hasn’t seen it in a long time.

Defense still matters, and it was proven last season, and when Michigan and Georgia won it.
This defense can keep us in many games.

The question is Nuss a great QB? To be honest he probably is not. However, he is not a bad QB. He is solid, and when he’s hot he can be very dangerous.

The reality is this offense can only get better, and the defenses we have played thus far have been way above average. Even LA tech. I expect this offense to perform well next week and be sprung into performing up to expectations vs a very poor Ole Miss defense.

Look fellas, we are 3-0. Everyone would have taken that before the season started. No matter how ugly it has looked.
Trust that the talent will showcase itself on offense.

I would say most of our fans’ frustrations stem from the inability to build a competitive all-around roster. Defense is elite, offense takes a step back. Offense is elite, defense takes two huge steps back.

3-0 is good but we have beaten subpar teams. The SEC schedule is similar to a 162 game MLB schedule… it sorts itself out. Might as well just enjoy winning and do what we can to support the team, but Kelly makes too much coin not to come under fire for inadequacies in his fold.

We have wrong offense.bk don't trust ol to go deep. Go to the I formation with a blocking Full back. Gives nuss more time and will improve the running game. Bk hinted on it last night. Look for it. I'm in

There is no way to build a team that makes 3 and outs not a bad thing. First downs have always and will always be a good thing in American football.

You make a good point. In this day and age of college football it’s going to be harder and harder to build a complete team though.

Georgia gave up 40 yesterday. That’s more points than LSU has given up all year. Ohio states offense has looked suspect at times too.

Obviously it’s still early but there isn’t a ton of complete teams I’ve seen yet. Maybe Oregon has been the closest. But look at that competition.

The reality is that the offense has been a liability. I really believe we have the pieces to turn that around. But Kelly’s response last night actually gives me more concern. Something isn’t right.

That one pass by Nussmeier concerned me. It was off the charts dumb. That in itself is nothing. It’s one play. But I couldn’t help notice what seemed like arrogance on the sideline when Kelly was chewing him out about it.

Is it possible that Nuss and the staff just aren’t on the same page?

Something isn’t right. Obviously the OL is part of it.

Kind of hard to argue with this.

3-0 is huge with the current playoff structure

Right, Kelly is gaslighting, probably to keep his players from losing all confidence, but gaslighting nonetheless.

It’s one thing to have weaknesses or deficiencies that leave you vulnerable (see 2019 right side of OL, defensive consistency), but why must the weak parts of the team always be abject failures?

There’s a difference between a weakness and ranking in the 100s and bottom of the conference at critical aspects of the game. Every year Kelly has had something like this. This is the most inexplicable because you have the talent.

I think the offense has the components to be pretty good. My fear is the guy that built the engine thinks it’s running fine and wants everyone to ignore that clanking sound.

Unfortunately, I think it's a lack of talented depth on the OL that will cause problems all season.

We saw what they could do against Clemson - when healthy. But losing Moore against Tech set off a trail of dominos because of a lack of quality depth behind him.

The running game disappeared because the front three DL could keep our reshuffled OL occupied, allowing Tech to penetrate on the edges. 5 DB's will go a long way towards stifling a passing game if the QB doesn't have time.

Then the QB gets conservative because he doesn't trust the OL to give him time or keep the pocket clean and the DBs blanket all the down field options.

Finally, the OC gets conservative to protect the win and keep his QB from getting the multi-game yips.

Then comes Florida, and everyone is still overly conservative. Moore is playing with a high-ankle sprain, and we go 3 and out for the first 3 (4?) possessions.

So, back to your statement: we're already seeing our talent play out on D and ST. I'm just not sure we have the talent in the depth of our OL to hope they come around.

Maybe changing to a little bit different offense that DOES play to our offensive strengths while accounting for the OL as it is would be better?

I understand that we have to play the hand we’re dealt when it comes to the roster. We probably don’t have any answers for the O line. They are who they are. My issue is the play calling. I know that everything begins on the lines of scrimmage and that we’re hamstrung without a running game. Adjust the play calling to what you have. Run toss sweeps. Set up some screens. And wtf was that Bauer Sharp call on third and 2. We started to click before the half and then we went conservative again. Brown and Anderson needed more targets. Berry needs to be involved for speed utilization. Sloan has got to adjust to his personnel.

He's hot or cold. Just don't throw stupid picks.

It’s frustrating to me bc we have the pieces to be good, we have athletes everywhere but we still suck on offense.

We aren’t playing to our strengths

op is poor at explaining reality. the pithy reality is we will get destroyed more than once this year.

Yeah but both of their offenses also were pretty good and could control games. When they got into higher scoring games (cause sometimes you play good teams) they were able to keep up.

If you’ve noticed most of the guys could care less what BK has to say to them after a bad play.

It’s not that complicated & people are not overreacting.

Great on one side of the ball and serviceable on the other is one thing.

Great on one side of the ball and bottom of the league on the other is another thing entirely, and it looks like we may be headed for episode 2.

If so, all falls on CBK & his staffing decisions IMO.
