Defensive grudge match with Offenses that seem to be struggling. Back then it was our QB struggling and Running game front and center now it's our Running game struggling and our QB front and center. Hoping Nuss can Pass us to a victory.

correct me if I'm wrong, but the only long throw completed by Nuss was to Brown in the Clemson game that was ruled "not a catch"

Is it play calling and trust in OL that is not letting him throw it further than 20 yards down the field?

He severely underthrew a long ball to Brown against Tech that lead to the early INT

He needs to get better on the deep ball or guys like Hilton won't be able to make an impact

When did he ever start making an impact?

Hilton is going to be the 2025 inductee into the fan overhyped HOF, joining past inductees such as John Emrery, Myles Brennan and Russell Shepard. Guys that every year, despite little actual production were certain to "explode" yet never did outside of a one-off game or two here and there.

No running game… Oline … Clemson kept two high safeties. La tech played 3/3/5 which even gave burrow fits when Auburn did it.

I am not personally aware of how to attack a 3/3/5. I guess it means 8 in coverage a lot of the time. And our Oline is not able to get enough movement at the point of attack to make that hurt the defense

Chris Hilton needs to get better if he wants to make an impact. So far he’s been nothing but hype

yes and you can bet we will see a ton of it until we prove we can run the ball between the tackles

He is the best QB in the country I’m told.

A well executed 3-3-5 is hard to accomplish but even harder to beat. Theoretically, the 3 DL play head up and cover 2 gaps (very hard for a DL to do), and the linebackers can pick and choose their gaps to shoot. A zone scheme can beat this in the run game, but your OL has to all be on the same page mid-play for a zone scheme. Watching the LA Tech film, we are very bad at understanding how to trade responsibilities mid play. Chester didn't play well, but about half of the time the guard didn't choose correctly to either take over the center or move up to the LB. One play Mubenga pushed Chester off the Nose when Chester had him covered and Mubenga let the LB go through. Another play Thompson went straight up to the LB when the Nose worked over to Thompson. Chester was also horrible in 1v1 pass blocking against the nose though

All of this to say our run game is fixable, but it takes time, communication, and cohesion

That 3-3-5 is difficult to get over the top on. Safeties are typically playing deep trying to keep everything in front of them. The middle of the field has been open at times and makes me wonder why we don’t run more digs or slants.

Our o line just can’t execute in the run game. Sometimes I wonder why we don’t line up under center in an I or pro set with a FB. I know it’s old school but you can throw out of those formations. Plus it gives the running back a lead blocker and the ability to run downhill.

Lot of games left on the schedule for the offense to get it figured out and improve. Not a totally lost cause like during the Miles' era.

He had 2 long ball TDs in the OU game and that was after he was hurt so I guess fans figured he'd be a force when healthy because of that game, being the last regular season game of the season and all.

The guy was fifth nationally with completions over 20 yards last year. The deep shot gun slinger is literally part of his mo/game.
