Cell phones throughout the years

I tried to go back and remember every phone I've had throughout the years. I used AI to help me fill in the blanks by listing popular phones in those periods. It was interesting to see screen sizes go down, then consistently up. Sony completely dropped off the map. Windows phone's brief appearance. Bezels disappear and the current iterations of phones being less exciting.
Motorola Razr V3; July 27, 2004; 2.2-inch TFT display
(first major shake up)
Samsung SGH-D900; June 2006; 2.1-inch TFT display
(pretty much a sliding Razr)
Sony Ericsson W580i; July 2007; 2.0-inch TFT display
(was Sony ever a major player in smart phones?)
iPhone 3G; July 11, 2008; 3.5-inch TFT display
(biggest shake up)
Samsung Galaxy S3; May 29, 2012; 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display
(android blew me away)
HTC One (M8) for Windows; August 19, 2014; 5.0-inch Super LCD 3 display
(I liked windows phone, it'd be nice to have 3 options right now)
LG G4; April 29, 2015; 5.5-inch IPS LCD display
(first fingerprint reader for me, i think)
Nexus 6P; October 19, 2015; 5.7-inch AMOLED display
(biggest tech leap)
Google Pixel XL; October 4, 2016; 5.5-inch AMOLED display
(meh, had big hopes)
Xiaomi Mi Mix 2; September 2017; 5.99-inch IPS LCD display
(bezels disappear. biggest leap in build quality for me - ceramic body)
Samsung Galaxy Note 10; August 23, 2019; 6.3-inch Dynamic AMOLED display
(all phones start being the same, manufactures leave the space)
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra; February 25, 2022; 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED
(Samsung vs Apple)
Google Pixel 10 Pro XL; August 28, 2025; 6.8-inch Super Actua OLED display

No Nextel?? I've dropped those phones down entire concourses and they've survived. i580, i95cl, both were awesome.

I had one of these in 1997. 30 mins of talk time per month was $50ish?

Had a few Motorola bag phones and Nokia phones before we went to Blackberrys. I was heartbroken when I had to give up my blackberry.

Sony Ericsson T616 (2003) Cutting edge at the time
Nokia 6620 (Symbian OS and EDGE data speed) (2005)
HTC Touch - windows mobile (2007)
HTC Touch Pro 2 - Windows mobile and then Android once XDAandroid was released (2009)

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 (2017)
Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S (2018)

It's funny when people "do you have iphone or samsung" when they equate all android as Samsung but I've had so many android phones and none of them Samsung.

Motorola Star Tac. Best cellphone for its time ever. Such a beautiful and advanced design...
Literally fit in the palm of your hand.
Still have mine and it still turns on.

Best phone I've ever owned hands down. App makers basically killed it when they refused to work with Microsoft.

Win. I had both the analog and the digital. Indestructible too, but most phones were up until the iPhone.
I had a Samsung blackjack fall into the back of a hot oven right under the burner until it was melted and deformed but still worked.
That was what made me get an iPhone. If it happened a year later, I’d be on Android.
Blackjack was probably the best phone because the keypad was great and windows would let you use ICS for a wired 3G hotspot in 2007. I worked in the oilfield with a lot of downtime and being connected meant I’d have all my work done before returning and didn’t have two hours of work left waiting for me. Of course 3g wasn’t everywhere yet though.

Somewhere in this house I still have an old nextel I never activated and a couple of old Samsungs. Apparently there's an app out there that turns your old phones into security cameras saving $$ -need to find /research that

No, you don't. I can only imagine you using three Samsungs, with multiple power connectors dangling down to an outlet, with a horrible looking mount no woman will appreciate. Get real cameras, with a working app, like Wyze. They're not that expensive.
