It’s crazy that the liberals on this board think that a teaching degree qualifies you to perform tranny surgery

"You can't opt your kids out of our teaching them about trannies"
-Why not?
"Well, that's how they do it in New York and California"

How anyone to the right of Mao would choose to live in Seattle is beyond me.
I'm 43, and I loved the grunge, "alternative" angst...then I became an adult. My counterparts in Seattle never did.

My son attends a private Christian college in Texas. Taking English Comp 101.
required reading:
1. Ta-Nehisi Coates: Between the world and me:
2. Judith Butler: "Beside Oneself: On the limits of sexual Autonomy"
3. Natalie Diaz: "A Body of Athletics"
4. Paulo Freire: "Excerpt from Pedagogy of the Oppressed"
5. Jia Tolentino: Losing Religion and Finding Ecstasy in Houston"
6. Ocean Vuong: "A letter to my mother that she will never read"
Class dropped. Emailed the president of university and my congressman. What is wrong with these people!

There is no reasoning or reaching a compromise with these people, they must be burned out of society

I’m no fan of establishment Republicans but there’s no denying Democrats stand for absolute evil.

One of the craziest (though largely not talked about) things is how a teaching position magically exempts you from laws that forbid an adult from "corrupting" minors by way of explicit sexual conversations and pornographic images.

Great point. Do this at a skating rink or at a mall, you get arrested and jailed- labeled as a sex offender. Your life would be over.
Do this in a classroom? Hero of the Left. This is how desperate they are to corrupt your children, and by proxy, corrupt the country.

That's a Christian college in name only.

This is the real goal. Straight out of the Communist playbook.
Get control of the schools, indoctrinate the children and turn them against their own parents. They have just about succeeded in doing it to a point where it cannot be fixed.

Jesus.
That’s like a Marxist wet dream of a reading list.

My response:
President xx and Professor xx,
My name is xxx. I live in xxx, TX. My son xxx is a freshman at Texas Lutheran University.
One of his classes is English Composition. Sounds fairly straightforward. We have found the class to be anything but straightforward.
I am attaching the syllabus as a reference.
I will also point out the required reading below:
Coates, Ta-Nehisi. Between the World and Me
Butler, Judith. “Beside Oneself: On the Limits of Sexual Autonomy.”
Diaz, Natalie. “A Body of Athletics.”
Freire, Paulo. Excerpt from Pedagogy of the Oppressed.
Tolentino, Jia. “Losing Religion and Finding Ecstasy in Houston”
Vuong, Ocean. “A Letter to My Mother That She Will Never Read
I believe my son and our family were misled thinking the class would concentrate on preparing students for upper-level coursework by honing their critical thinking and communication abilities.
As you can see by the required reading and syllabus that is not the case at all. We did not sign up for Critical Race Theory 101, Gender Theory 101, or Marxism 101.
I am asking for two accommodations.
1. Xxx is able to drop this class of indoctrination without prejudice.
2. We are assigned a counselor to help guide us through the TLU experience. We are interested purely in an outstanding education for our son. We would like to have an advisor who can help steer us around professors who have an agenda other than a world class education.
I am happy to meet with you in person. I work long hours and might need a few days notice to arrange my schedule.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Modern American/English literature is just drowning in an ocean of vapidity.

Your adult son is not capable of going to his professor’s office hours or dropping a class and your main concern is him reading books you don’t like but mostly likely have never laid your own eyes on.
Seriously, how unhinged does someone have to be to micromanage their adult son’s life this way? You can’t even trust your adult son to read books! It sounds like YOU are doing the indoctrinating.
More than a dozen downvotes with zero replies because downvoters can’t argue with the inconvenient truth.
