Multiple electronic billboards on I-10 stating they are the #1 academic public university in the state. LSU should be fricking ashamed they have let standards fall so far.

Tech is doing some great things no two ways about it. There's an advantage to not being located in the BR where every Tom, Dick and Boudreaux at the state Capitol has his grubby fingers in the pie.

For decades the best and brightest have hauled arse out of Louisiana. The children of the best and brightest have no interest in coming back and going to LSU.
So the kids LSU has to attract to stay open are the offspring of the not best and not brightest. So the academics slip a bit to match the capability of your student pool.

And Tech still isn’t a good school.
No one in Louisiana is going to a public university for its academic prestige. It’s a retard fight and everyone knows that.

LSU is ranked higher and has a lot more sway in corporate America, especially in petro and electrical.

Me and my friends have always laughed about people from LA Tech thinking so highly of themselves, It’s honestly pretty cringeworthy. LA Tech grads have always had that complex about them. I knew several people who couldn’t make the grades at LSU and transferred to Tech so they could still make it to Vet and Medical school. Also, I met the reverse who transferred to LSU from tech and said it was much harder. Not saying LSU is some amazing academic school but all you gotta do is look at the alumni average salary.

I grew up in Shreveport. Lots of kids graduate HS, go to Tech then come home to Shreveport for the rest of their life.

Nobody is going to argue that LSU is some Harvard tier academic institution, but I’m incredibly proud of the education I got at LSU and I’ve been pretty successful in a fairly competitive line of work based on that education. What LSU is is an institution that produces unbelievable winners and arse kickers.
