smh. 88 years old and contemplating running for 19th term
should be in assisted living facility

Elderly Democratic lawmaker can’t walk a few feet without help

Democratic Washington, D.C., Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton appeared to require assistance to exit a podium during a Wednesday news conference on Capitol Hill.

Norton turned 88 on June 13 and has insisted that she is running for reelection, but her spokesperson told Axios on June 25 that “no decision has been made” about her seeking a 19th term in office. After delivering remarks against President Donald Trump’s crime crackdown in Washington, she grabbed onto an apparent aid for help walking behind her colleagues.

Age isn't an issue, mental acuity is though.

And yeah, we need freaking term limits in the worst way.

term limits may not always be the right call.

what if coaches had term limits? bama would have had saban for only a short period of time.

in some cases, you have a good one that you don't want to leave office.

Unfortunately the republicans are just as bad.

Strom was an embarrassment and Grassley is pretty bad.

If someone is mentally fit for governance, whether or not they can walk unassisted to a podium isn't an issue.

Age is an issue. No one over 78 should be in position of power to legislate or create laws on behalf of a population that you have grown out of touch with.

We'll get to that point but need to do what is best for the future of the country.

That's up to the voters. As long as they are mentally strong, that's not our business if the voters put dumbasses in those seats. That's the beauty of our Republic.

It doesn't matter what type of work you are in, but if a 70 year old came in looking for a job, you wouldn't hire them.

Let's include FULL financial disclosures. I'd like to see how to turn a $177K yearly salary into $34M.

Agree. When you reach the age of 80, that day you should have to pack your shite and leave.

Age and mental acuity typically have an inverse relationship. We should presume the norm, not the anomaly.

age limits

You're right. The voting age should be 25 and up. Younger people are just too stupid to have any kind of control over government.

Agreed. If you institute term limits, the issue with age will be resolved as a by product.

Who determines if they are fit for governance?

Our former Administration operated by a shadow government with the Commander in Chief a dementia riddled geriatric. If it weren't for the July '24 debate when the entire country witnessed his severe mental decline, nothing would've changed, the same puppets would've led that old geezer around as he continued to "govern" our country.

Do you feel the same about military enlistment? IMO, if you're old enough to defend this country, you deserve the right to vote for your Commander in Chief.
