There sure doesn’t seem to be much excitement for week 1

It’s pretty quiet in here. I have to say I definitely understand (from my perspective anyway). I really wanted to see them just go with Shough and see what we have (although I still hope we do well with Rattler).
My issue with this is that it seems like there is a component of this decision that should not be there. There is a segment of the fanbase that is very loud that wants Rattler, and it seems like they are starting Rattler that way when he struggles they can say “see this is why drafted Shough”. Then put Shough in afterwards.
If they were sitting Shough behind a veteran that he could actually learn from, I think I would see this entirely different.
I still like KM, and I will be happy to be wrong (not that we will ever know), but it has sure dampened my excitement for the season.
And I was pretty excited following the draft….

That’s a fair point, but I am not just talking about today though.

Things will pick up on game day for sure. Just wait.

You gotta admit though, it’s usually busier in here on the Monday of game week lol

You also have to consider the fact that the trolls and the everything the saints do is the worst thing ever posters have killed any momentum going into the season as well as ran off a lot of posters that simply grew tired of the same garbage being regurgitated with damn near every post

Yea, this is a good point as well. I guess it’s a little bit of a lot of things lol. I definitely find it curious though

LSU just handled a top 5 team in their house (even though the score doesn't reflect it). That's being celebrated today for sure. Still riding that high.

The first 3 games are brutal, so the 5th round pick goes out and takes the arse whipping and the 2nd round pick comes in after things settle a bit.
Doesnt have anything to do with what fans want.

What if Shough has just been bad and can’t beat rattler?
If Shough was even 10-20% better than rattler in practice and camp they’d be starting him. Nobody is worried about the hurt feelings of a 5th rd pick.

Agree.
Seems to be a lot more negative posters on here this season
Most of us understand where the team is at and probably how the season will turn out .
We get enough of it from the so called sports experts on TV, I don't want to come on to a Saints site and just read more of it. Especially from Saints fans.
There are those that are just doom and gloom " OMG the sky is falling " posters that just are complete buzz kills.
Sometimes I just want to see positive stuff.

Saints are a boring team. They don't score a lot of points. I don't think they will with either QB this season. Two inexperienced QBs that aren't high end talents. They'll continue trying to win low scoring games by dragging the game into the mud. Not a lot to be excited about until there is.

We’re touch down dogs at home in week one of what most expect to be a tank season. We did the right things this offseason to help set up a bright future, but I am expecting this season to be painful. Every win will be unexpected and a blessing.

Touchdown underdogs at home is Browns/Raiders type nonsense

Is it really? Host Cardinals and 49ers, then at Seahawks.
Are people really thinking Arizona & Seattle aren't winnable games? Not saying we will win, or should even be favored, but they are not what I would call "brutal".
To OPs mention of sitting a rookie behind a veteran instead of 2nd year 5th rounder, I definitely understand that in principal. Ideally you would have the game experienced veteran (Carson Wentz, Tyrod Taylor, Teddy B types) with only 1 young unproven QB behind him, but the unknown of Rattler also has me intrigued for the start of the season same as it would if Shough were starting. Rattler hasn't lit it up, but he has shown flashes, so I'm still hopeful that the coaching staff and draw up the right plays at opportune times and that Rattler shows his development.
I think we can look to the LSU-Clemson game from Saturday to get a glimpse of what the Saints will try to do. Especially to start the season I don't expect Rattler or the offense in general to take the top off the defenses and score 30+. I think the Defense is going to have to lead the charge and set the tone. Offense will try & establish and commit to a running game, and throw a lot of screens. Likely to use a bunch of pre-snap motions to give a Rattler a chance to see Man/Zone coverage, O-line a chance to identify blitzers, and hopefully have the defense seeing the motions and hopefully being a half step late off the ball so our WRs can have beat them off the line for a lot of quick throws. I doubt that we see many 20+ yard passing attempts, that is unless opposing defenses expect that also and bring a safety in closer to the line to mix up blitzers and force Rattler to show he can beat them.

We have a great chance at beating SF. They play Seattle this weekend and then play Arizona week 3. Sandwich game vs us.
