Pantera and it's not close. Never liked Slayer.

Easily Pantera. They were a machine. All 4 were top of their game.

Prime slayer released one of the most important and influential metal albums of all time, and then released a few more great albums.

Prime Pantera was pretty good.

Wtf is wrong with this place?

Pantera easily and I'm a Slayer fan. They were the metal band of the 90s. Slayer was always overshadowed by Metallica. Pantera never even had an equal like Slayer did with Megadeth. Dime's guitar work was iconic, one of the best ever in metal or hard rock. Hanneman and King were good, but Dime stood out on his own. Phil is also one of the most best frontmen in metal history. Tom never really stood out on stage.

Hanneman and Lombardo were great players, but King and Araya were the weak links live for Slayer and it showed. I was surprised how bad they were when I saw them in their "prime".

Damn King.....I respect all of your music posts.......but thats almost fighting words.

Just kidding man!

Pantera was the heaviest, grooviest, nastiest most iconic metal band of the 90's until RTS in 2000. They pioneered heavy groove metal! Dime was a god!

Neither were all that great in the grand scheme of things. No versatility; music for one mood.

Pantera had more hits and banger albums and their live shows were awesome.

I love them both

I was a huge Pantera fan and never really listened to slayer because I thought they were Cookie Monster singer music

I started listening to their entire catalogue and fell in love with them

Pantera was bigger but both have a huge influence on metal. Also both are riff machines

I just don't really like groove metal. I hate Dime Bag's guitar tone. I really don't like most of the bands that were heavily influenced by Pantera like Crowbar and Eye Hate God. I sorta enjoy Down, but I really don't like the general direction of metal Pantera influenced.

Crowbar and EHG both started before CFH was released and have very little in common with Pantera.. If you want to talk about bands influenced by Pantera, Lamb of God and Machinehead would be much better examples.

For me it's Pantera. I Like Slayer just fine, but Far Beyond Driven gets it done for me.

I don’t like them either. I also don’t care for Korn or much of nu metal either. I really don’t like the direction much of heavy music took in the 90’s.

Slayer and it's not close.

Pantera were a glam band until they heard Exhorder, then changed entirely to copy them.

Also they just don't have enough good songs and never had an album as good as RIB.
