I knew the play it at funerals but no clue they do it in hospitals too. My Uncle was in the Navy for most of his life. Died of cancer(he smoked..a ton). But honestly was not expecting it at the hospital. I teared up(don't care if you're judging)...it made me proud of him and our country. Anyways...

He will..he is looking down on us...of that I am very sure..one of the best people I will ever know(walked both my sisters down the aisle at their weddings, since my dad passed away and obviously couldn't). Great man..and golfer..not that that matters.

May he Rest in Peace.

I”ve never heard of it at a hospital. I know they have had problems finding enough service personnel to do the services at Veteran funerals.

Every Veteran deserves the flag and TAPS if they wore the uniform.

Taps always makes me misty eyed. My father died in 1990. Taps followed by the 21 gun salute had me bawling.
Props to your uncle.

I held it together pretty good at my dad's ceremony in January, but when the naval officer offered my mom his flag, and taps started, i lost it.

Condolences to your family

Played in the hospital room when he passed away? A speaker in the room?

How/who do you notify when this occurs for your vet family member?

I would start at a VFW Post. They would probably know, probably even have someone come do it.

Funeral Home should help with this.

My uncle is buried in Port Hudson National Cemetary near Zachary, LA. Vietnam vet with the Air Force. Full military service but Taps was "played" by a dude with a bugle with an electronic player/speaker in it. I guess bugle players are hard to find. Nice service nonetheless. RIP uncle.

This is a time to know who the down votes are.

What POS down votes a veteran dying and getting Taps played in the hospital.
