Folk have been warned to make sure their bacon is crispy after a fry-up fan who ate his under-cooked ended up with pork worms in his brain. The 52-year-old sought medical help after weekly migraines grew worse and he reported a severe pain across the back of his head. A scan revealed multiple cyst-like lesions scattered across his brain.

Further tests showed he was infected by a tapeworm common in pigs. The worm's larvae had invaded his brain and were embedded within cysts inside the tissue.

The patient was admitted to hospital in the US where he spent ‘several weeks’ in intensive care receiving anti-parasite and anti-inflammatory drugs.

He was discharged after his condition improved though he continued to be monitored as an outpatient.

The undercooked bit is my favorite part of a slice of bacon.

Soak your pork in coke to get the worms out.

I hate extremely crispy bacon. Give me the worms over hard bacon.

Pork worms

Can you imagine a giant worm that tastes like pork?

Reminds me of sligs from Dune

Just a living pork loin

Freezing it for at least 30 days should kill any parasite eggs. Also, I’m betting what he ate was uncured bacon, as well. Since it’s a British source, did it happen in Britain? British bacon is quite different than ours. I know they said he was treated in the US, but it’s unclear if he ate the bacon in the US.
I’ve travelled in Europe and had breakfasts over there where the bacon was frequently barely cooked.

There is a reason most people naturally find undercooked bacon disgusting. Your body is trying to tell you something.

One real bout of food poisoning will have you considering well-done steaks for a little while.

He seems to be improving- but the entire neighborhood has accused him of destroying their yards, overnight.

Medium well never gave me food poisoning but Red Lobster did in 1999…. I still can’t forget how bad I felt.
