Hershel Walker trade vs Micah Parson trade

The only similarities in the two trades is that they both were young and Dallas' best player, Hershel was 27 and Micah is 26.

In 1989, Dallas Traded Hershel to Minnesota for 5 players and Minnesota's 1st, 2nd and 6th pick in the 1990 draft
LB Jesse Solomon,
LB David Howard,
CB Issiac Holt,
DE Alex Stewart and
RB Darrin Nelson

What made the trade so great is that there were conditional picks attached to each of the players if they were cut by Feb 1,1990. Minnesota clearly did not believe that Dallas would cut the players but they cut 4 of them and traded Darrin Nelson to the Chargers. Here's what they got from Minnesota in addition to the original 3 picks:

1st round in 91 for cutting Solomon
2nd round in 91 for cutting Howard
1st round in 92 for cutting Holt
2nd round in 92 for trading Nelson
3rd round in 92 for cutting Stewart

There is definitely a difference in the two trades in that Jimmy was calling the shots and was a genius in talent evaluation and trade negotiations whereas Jerry is just a PR guy who thinks he's a great GM. I will give Jerry this, he knows how to keep himself and the Cowboys front and center in the news which I think is the only thing he really cares about.
