Listing stuff for free on FB Marketplace

Brings out the fricking worst of the worst. I recently switched to a battery powered weed eater and got rid of a gas powered one that the primer bulb was busted. Posted it for free on Marketplace and within seconds I had 6-7 messages. I went with the first and he couldn't pick it up for a few days so I told him I wasn't holding it and went with the next. She came within 20 minutes but wanted to have a 15 minute conversation about the damn thing. The first guy is pissed because he needs a weed eater and funds are tight. I had to block the guy because he would not stop messaging me.
It's like anytime the see the words FREE, they go nuts. You could post an old dirty arse fricking spoon you found and I guarantee someone would want it if you listed it for free.

well, you're an idiot for being on facebook in the first place, and more of an idiot for putting something for free on there and having conversations with random idiots.
Just put it at the side of the road on Friday morning. The odds of it being there at the end of the day are slim.

If it something I want gone for free, I just put it next to the driveway and usually gone within 30 minutes.

Put it on the curb with a "FREE" sign.

Listed a free couch last week. 1st response had a profile full of guns and gang shite. No way they're getting my address.
2nd response was going to pick it up as soon as her husband got home. No-showed.
I don't want to drag this heavy arse thing all the way to the street, but I might have to.

I’ll need you to type in this 6-digit code for my safety before I read this post!

My father in law inherited a piece of property with an older house on it. Small(800 sq ft), needed work so he posted it on marketplace for $5k to be moved. The foundation was solid but it did need new flooring throughout and some other cosmetic items. He just wanted it gone but didn't want to post it for free because of the idiots. He said it was the most nerve wracking experience. He had gotten moving quotes to move it from $15-20k and people were asking him to go down on the price because of the moving costs. One lady came look at it and said "it needed too much work". Lady, what do you expect? The house is selling for 5 THOUSAND DOLLARS!

This is why I list shite for real cheap and am honest about the condition in the description. May still have to deal with some bullshite, but it weeds out the real scourge as it’s not listed for free.
Often times if the person is normal I’ll give it to them for free anyway.

May you please reserve the equipment for me. I will wire you a small deposit for holding fee for our convenience that you can use to purchase a visa gift card in return.
Much regards in advance.

I belong to a bunch of free groups on fb.
Met a bunch of people in my community that way.

Plus trying to get to the screws to remove it. Probably messing it up even more and eventually spending $100+ getting someone to do it for me. I'm not patient when it comes to that kind of stuff.

Thats why I just don't deal with that shite. If none of my friends or colleagues need it, it gets thrown away.
I tried doing the right and noble thing in the past by listing things publicly for sale or for cheap, but I aint doing it anymore. In the garbage it goes.

The engine in one of my old Murray riding mowers threw a rod so I put it at the road Sunday morning. I get a knock about 30 minutes later asking if I can help them load it in their truck. Neither of us have ramps. I told him I couldn't help and he asked if I could help him push it under my driveway so no one could take it. Helped him and the fricker never came back.

I find neighborhood pages to be more effective. Post that it is free for someone to grab. If youre in a decent neighborhood you won't have so much trash to deal with

yeah idk why but even if you're selling and not giving it away lawn care equipment brings out the worst of the worst on FB marketplace.

The worst is having someone agree to come pick something up, then try to talk you down on the spot.
