What I don’t understand is why the Browns even bothered to draft him when they clearly didn’t want him.

Who says they don’t want him. Browns are doing just fine in how they are going about their qb situation. Media and stupid people like Tacky are the ones blowing this story up.

They clearly do. Whether that’s the right move or not is still tbd

First time I think the Browns actually have a plan.

Draft 2 QBs in the back half of draft to develop behind a vet. If it doesn't work out they become expendable and your team sucks and just draft one in round 1 next year.

But is that a real plan? What’s likely to happen is they draft another QB in the 1st round next year and build around him.

I don’t think I’m making anything up. It’s time for this story to die down. I don’t need every update on this dudes life.

Taking Sanders cost them nothing and saved them a million on a flyer.

They used a 5th round pick but got a 5th round pick back from the Raiders for Pickett. Pickett's guaranteed salary of $2 MM is twice Sander's number.

He was only a 5th round draft pick. Their chances of sticking around a year are basically a coin flip. Something less than a third are still around after 2. And 15-25% after 2.

Heads: maybe see what develops and trade him for something more valuable than a 5th

Tails: only lost a 5th.

The GM and coach clearly didn’t want to draft him. That was the call of Haslem.

If they didn't want him he'd be floating around on waivers.

I’ve got no clue if Shendeur Sanders will be a good starting QB in the NFL. Maybe he can be, or maybe he was overhyped by the media and his dad.

But sitting the bench and trying to learn from a seasoned guy like Flacco could be a very good thing for him.

He was actually decent value in the 5th and if he gets to learn from Flacco that's a plus. If he doesn't get any better, he will be cut next year.

The most surprising thing for me is the fact the Browns actually managed the Sanders media circus very well IMO.

Did the Pats want Brady when they drafted him in the 6th round?
