What age were you or what life event took place that made you realize that you have more time behind you than ahead of you?

52. Found out I had a blocked artery in my left leg. Looked up stats about people diagnosed similarly to myself.

Hitting 50 years old. You realize that most likely you are well past half way.

54 years of age. 8 years ago for my first cancer diagnosis. Lucky to still be here but downhill ever since.

Like now.
I am 59. Crazy thing is when Ozzy died he was 76. That made me think.
He wasnt THAT much older than me............and I realized I dont wanna work until 65 and then have x amont of years left. What maybe 5?
That sucks.

When you get winded having sex and you look at the clock and 4 minutes has passed. At that time you know you are old.
Then you take a nap.

I turn 40 this year and I’m starting to think about it more

I heard Jimmy Carr reference that we typically have only around 4000 weeks if we reach expectancy. I multiplied my age by 52 weeks and seeing how much of that 4000 is gone was wild.

I'm 54 and its heavy on my mind lately. Especially when I spend time with my granddaughter who tells me that I'm her best friend.
I wonder how long I have with her and will I see her graduate. get married, have kids, etc.

~43rd birthday I spent caring for my father as he died at 70. 6 months earlier we were shooting bottle rockets at each other with my 7 and 9 year old. I realized I was a lot closer to being in his shoes than my kids’

Two years ago my brother had a stroke.
He's recovering pretty well.
In May, I had laser surgery on my eye. Both made me think.

Went to a retirement/social security seminar last week.
The presenter threw up a chart with the average life expectancy of the American male.
78.
Shite. That's only 17 years from now.
Now I'm in full panic cuz the age was just revised to 73!

Today, thanks for bringing it up. I retired this year, going on Medicare next year. I'm now what I used to consider "old". It doesn't feel like I thought it would, I don't feel old even though there are so many things I can't do now that I once could do. I realize that Ive got 20-25 yrs left max. That's an optimistic estimate.
Just trying to enjoy what's left of life. One of the big fears is that LSU won't win another NC before I die. On the other hand there was a time (70s-90s) when I didn't think LSU would win even one in my lifetime so I can't complain. I'll die happy having seen three (plilus the baseball dynasty).
