Twas inevitable.
They gave him every opportunity, they WANTED him to make the roster and gave him the most snaps of anyone in the entire preseason
He did nothing

Well Son of a Bitch, they did something that makes sense

I did feel Diggs "won" the 4th OLB spot, although it was more by default.

Gave him the most snaps & proved to be the team's worst defensive player during the preseason (according to PFF)

frickin Ruiz
It's not like McCoy literally raises his ability to block one on one, but for some reason he does far better one on one with McCoy.

Notre Dame's All-Time quarterback sack leader

I take it that Ruiz knows McCoy is setting the correct assignment against the defense. Ruiz knows McCoy is going to do his job and he can focus just on his job. If anyone other than McCoy is there he has not as much confidence it is the correct assignment and likely the guy next to him is going to breakdown or whiff completely and Ruiz doesn't have the talent to compensate for that.

This coaching staff gets it. We are going to suck this year but I think we are going to be ok.

Yeah very well could be a confidence thing, and knowing McCoy would have his back if he messes up as well. So maybe it does let him go out there and play more free. Only thing that sounds reasonable to explain it.

He was a stud at ND. Without going back and looking I probably have some posts hyping him up when we drafted him that look stupid now. No idea how he flopped so bad. We reached for him, but every analyst had him in their top 75-100 draft prospects, that sort of guy should at least be a rotational player.

Over his two years appearing in 27 regular season games, he registered no sacks and was mostly relegated to a special teams role. Despite appearing in the third-most snaps during the 2025 preseason, Foskey registered a single pressure on 49 pass rushing snaps (T-No. 3 on the team). He also added four total tackles but was notched with a 28.6% missed tackle rate over the trio of contests.

I don't think Ruiz ever looks like a very good player.

He probably thrived because of someone else sucess on that N.Dame Line.
You think the scounts would have seen that.
Watch eagles pick him up

I agree it’s kind of crazy that he plays well enough with McCoy, but falls apart without him. I think he’d be a serviceable center for someone.
