I am guessing that 60-70% of all sidewalks in this country see little to no foot traffic.

Why are we beholden to Big Sidewalk?

90% of bike lanes? Waste of money.

the bigger problem is Big Asses not Big Sidewalk

If folks would walk 3 blocks to McD's vs driving their hoopty; we'd be in a better place as a society

I bet you've never walked many roads in Ascension. I'd take a sliver of shoulder, much less a sidewalk.

Sidewalks are great. Only part of my neighborhood has sidewalks and the sidewalks are nice to walk the dogs in the evening vs walking in the road.

I appreciate sidewalks so I don't have to walk in the street while walking my dog. This allows me to let him shite on your lawn and not get run over by distracted drivers.

Disagree. Would hate to have my yard divided by a sidewalk cutting through it. If your yard is large it's not a big deal, but in a lot of suburban neighborhoods with tiny yards, it doesn't look right.

Also if a neighborhood is really that nice it shouldn't have a lot of thru traffic, decreasing the need for sidewalks in the first place.

They also give easy excuses for sketchy types to case your place.

This is much easier to do with a new construction neighborhood so it all looks uniform throughout. Trying to go back and add sidewalks to an older neighborhood never looks great. There have been talks where I live of adding sidewalks in older areas, and it messes with where mailboxes are located, flower beds, and other things people have in their yard. Crossing existing driveways looks bad too.
