Im not speaking of playing style or skill set necessarily but there are some parallels. I know the negatives - parting with a 4th rounder, age, etc but he still has some meat left on his rookie contract. He’s a similar age to Horn when Horn arrived (Horn was going into his 5th year) and a breakout candidate much in the way Horn was. Horn got backup playing time his last two years at KC and blew up here when opportunity was here for him. There are many reasons to believe that all Vele needs is opportunity. Hoping for the best. I don’t like what we gave up for him.

We can only hope so.

Quite frankly, if he puts up "40-50 receptions, 500-600 yards, and 3-5 TDs" a year, I'm content.

He's going to be a seam & red zone threat, which hopefully opens up the rest of the group because we haven't had a reliable threat otherwise.

Your not getting a consistent 1300 yard guy with shitty qb play another example of underrating horn. Saints talk apparently believes anyone can just do that Horn would be all pro multiple times if the saints were winning

If he was anywhere near the realm of a Joe Horn “offensive genius “ Payton doesn’t trade him for a 4th its that simple really.

The fact yall keep talking like Horn was average is laughable

And if you really wanted to reach, La’Roi Glover has a somewhat similar story. Although more of an unknown at the time, Glover if I remember correctly was gonna rot on the Raider’s bench because they had Russell Maryland, Darrin Russell, and that McGlocklin guy in front of him when we picked him up. He turned out to be what Ditka would call “ a real Grab-owski.”

Well, he basically needs to produce like Joe Horn, or the expense of a 4th and 7th for him was a bad move.

Id rather have the draft capital for YEAR 2 of our REBUILD.

Then again, I would never have that loser, Mickey Loomis anywhere near my franchise while I do it.

That's pretty much what he did last year as a rookie. If we can get 50% more production than that I'd be satisfied

The other day someone said Michael Jacobsen reminded them of Colston.

Now it's what if vele turns into colston.

Why do yall do this?

What I have seen this preseason is that we still struggle in the redzone because we have a bunch of small, speedy WRs and our TEs seem non-existent down there. I don't like the compensation, but CKM saw a weakness in our roster and went out and got a guy that can fill it.

100s of post screaming for the Saints to get a big bodied WR. Coach trades for one he likes.
Sky screaming continues without the guy playing one game in a Saints uniform on a 7th round contract for the next three years. lol

I was just pointing out that we now have 2 colstons on the roster according to people on this board

Coming from “offensive genius “ Sean payton spoils it completely.

If he was good Payton keeps him its that simple.

Exactly. A big bodied possession WR was high on our list of needs and we went get one. If he makes some big grabs in clutch scenarios and can be a reliable 3rd option then the deal wasn't bad. If he turns into Brandon Coleman 2.0 then we overpaid.

His age isn't a concern for me since height and hands don't go away like speed does.

So CSP never let go or traded a player that was good or did better after leaving during his coaching the Saint?
Simple huh
