Most of the predicaments they found themselves in were either directly or indirectly a result of the Professor’s ineptitude?
Yet he gets treated like a genius, while all the shite rains down on poor Gilligan.

Every episode of Three's Company had a misunderstanding.

And it was always the same 3-4 misunderstandings running in a rotation.
Easy money if you were a writer.

The Professor could build just about anything but couldn't
repair a fricking boat with a hole in it

Maybe but I wouldn't have noticed. I would have been too busy trying my damnedest to bang Mary Ann

Give me 3 specific examples of this.
You make this claim about the Professor, yet dont even bother to take the time to give a simple list of examples of this ineptitude to back up your ridiculous claim.

The Minnow was completely destroyed in an early episode when Gilligan was trying to repair it. He used the wrong type of glue and caused it to fall apart.
I'm currently in the middle of a rematch with my family, and had forgotten just how off the wall ridiculous and absurd this show is. It works, though.

Gilligan, was really the everyday man, he fixed everything yet got blamed for everything.
The professor represtented the educated who felt more intelliegent
The Howells represtented the ruling elite
Ginger represted hollywood
Mary-ann was the girl next door
Gilligan, the everyday man who fixed everything and pushed the forward story.

Hey, It's not the professor's fault that dumb arse Gilligan kept the cover on that glue that caused it to explode and cover them with glue, and get covered with feathers when they chased him into the hut. The professor got that satellite working to take those pictures and broadcast it back to NASA

Not reading your message but my answer is Mary Ann.

Gilligan was looking for syrup for pancakes, with Mary Ann, and found some and was using it for dinner. They realized at dinner that the syrup was elastic like glue, and professor tested it under water and it still held. So they tested it out on the boat and it worked. Then a few days later Gilligan discovered that the glue was turning into dust after a few days and tried to warn Skipper and Professor but at that point it was too late as they had already used it all over the boat. All the glue failed before they ever got to set sail, destroying the boat. Would have sucked had they set sail and it happened when they were out to see, as Gilligan pointed out at the end of the episode.
Also in that episode Professor tried to forge nails from some material on the island but was unsuccessful.
I wouldn't blame Gilligan, or anyone for that. Just bad luck.

To me, watching shows like "Gilligan's Island", "Three's Company" and "Hogan's Heroes" was nothing short of mind-numbing garbage.
Like examples already mentioned about the first two should suffice.
Now, take "Hogan's Heroes"------the premise of the show is that the German's running the prison camp are totally inept, haven't got a clue as to the secret goings on that the Allied prisoners are undertaking. That they can slip in and out of the prison camp at will with no one the wiser and pull off extraordinary sabotage missions with no reprisals.
To enjoy shows like the above you just have to suspend logic and reasoning for the half hour they ran.

Caveman professor trying out different wheels was awesome.

The tour was only 3 hours. At most, that's 1 1/2 hours out, then back again.
How freaking far could they have gone off course?

Ineptitude? Or part of his genius? He’s stuck on an island with an older married couple, a fat guy a doofus (who is the fat guy’s “little buddy” ) and 2 smoking hot women. Who is the only one with his own cabin? In the real world could the Professor remotely have a shot with Maryann or Ginger? No chance. But if the only competition is an old man with his wife is in tow, a fat guy and a doofus? Suddenly the Professor is by far the best option
