Watching sons of anarchy , and has a scene where the sheriff is smoking a joint in his office….
Does no one smell it?!? I see this periodically, like just go around the corner and burn one…
Man that would smell up the place for at least half an hour…at least make it realistic

They are in Northern California. Everyone does pot up there, and no one cares.

I mean… the sheriff, in his office? During the middle of the day?
That should ring a bell…

Normalizing and glorifying degradation is a staple of mainstream Hollywood

Yea, that's really dumb.
I get why they do it but constantly using the characters name in every single sentence is pretty annoying writing to me.
Friday Night Lights (which I love), was the worst at it.
Lyla Garrity: Jason, I don't know Jason, why do you think Jason? Jason do you love me or are you just playing with me Jason, Jason I can't take it anymore Jason!
Holy hell, we get it, his name is Jason.

Kind of generic
When a character gets caught in compromising circumstances that has a very simple explanation and either
A. Says “I can explain” and doesn’t
B. The person catching them absolutely refuses to let them explain.

When every time they park its right in front of the place they need to go, even in LA and NYC.
When they just make a call and close their phone. Nobody ever says bye
That nobody ever checks security cameras or CCTV. Hunters Wives spent the whole season brainstorming who entered a building and who was where at what time and never mentioned security footage or phone pings
Characters cocking guns when not needed.

Clearly you haven't watched Outer Banks. Half the script is "John B"

My ultimate one is in horror movies when someone runs upstairs to escape the murderer. It’s pretty much destroyed me in the genre.

Characters stating facts that each of them knows and so does the audience.
It's lazy AF writing.

Running upstairs or downstairs from the ground floor, running into the woods instead of into town, running into the darkness instead of the light… fleeing in general, just pull out a gun and stand your ground backed into a corner.

Bigoted cops.
30+ years in law enforcement in multiple states and jurisdictions. Never encountered a single one.
Seems to be a Hollywood trope that people think is real.

Bully scenes. Just tired of that. Bad guys being dealt with is one thing, but the movie bully stereotype is now tiresome.

Investigators leaving a scene where they learn something, but they don't start the dialog about what they figured out until they are getting out of the car after driving back from the scene to some other place. Like they just didn't talk about it the whole ride and waited until 20 minutes later getting out of the car.
Or the opposite, they are headed to question someone, and they don't talk out the game plan until they are walking up to the door after the drive. Just didn't bother to figure it out in the way there I guess.

People trying to outrun large, non-agile creatures or vehicles in a straight line. Zig zag, cut in between cars, duck into a building, something.

When something needs to get fixed under the kitchen sink, some one ALWAYS has a pipe wrench. I have never brought a pipe wrench under the sink to tighten the nuts. Either hand tighten or use a pair of channel locks to tighten or loosen the nut.
The cliche’ rich white clique verbally or physically harassing the minority or weaker group. How often does this happen? Personally, I didn’t see this growing up in school.

There is an episode where he says he has a card. Believe he supposedly had cancer throughout the show.

Buddy Repperton running from Christine always irks me but the shot of Christine on fire is iconic.
