LSU housing over capacity; students temporarily staying at Ion faced roaches, rats

Nothing beats a Jet 2 Holiday than living at LSU!
The ion is absolutely the worst. Trash everywhere, rodents. You can smell the weed as soon as you open the entrance. Google reviews are absolutely horrendous.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - LSU is over capacity again this year, having to temporarily house 170 incoming freshmen and upperclassmen at the LSU Lod Cook Hotel and the Ion Apartments. Some students say they moved into the Ion to find they were not alone, claiming their places had roaches and mice.
“Everywhere I’ve heard, ‘Oh, yeah, I knew this was be Ion when I seen it,’ or ‘everyone comes, like I knew this was Ion.’ Like, that’s so sad. Like it should be like girl, move to the Ion, not get out,” Jessica Livingston said

This is a college student?
Is her first class remedial English?

Hood rats should feel at home there.

So the embarrassing amount of extra fees aren't going back to help the students? Shocked.
At what point do we start hard core auditing and firing/filing charges against people for utter mismanagement of public funding?

She’s a perfect example of why LSU is over capacity now. They’re admitting anyone and everyone nowadays. It’s fricking disgusting.

How do you end up over capacity? They double booked students to rooms?

Not sure. But I think they bank on a lot of locals getting a housing exemption and staying at home.
They also ran out of parking passes

They’re allowed (at least when I worked there, I assume the rule is still the same) to admit up to 4% of the previous year’s class as exceptions. These exceptions are the retards who don’t meet the admission requirements. If they use the entire 4% each year, eventually you’re going to get where they are now - record enrollment each year and, now, over capacity.
LSU is woke as frick now and it’s enraging. If a kid doesn’t meet requirements, he/she can go somewhere else and transfer in later.

Some have even been forced to set up camp at the PMAC

And people are upset that Tate left. This overcrowding has been an issue for years. They did nothing about it.

It appears Tate protected himself by staying quiet and staying out of athletics, which is what 90% of the alumni worry about.
Maybe the next president tries to tackle some of the infrastructure issues.

They have been constantly building new dorms for a decade. They’re building more right now across in the TD village lot.
Granted they shouldn’t have admitted more than they could house but honestly 170 isn’t that enormous of a number. As someone else said they probably banked on local students staying at home who didn’t.
They certainly aren’t doing nothing

Shoulda never got rid of Kirby Smith!

I lived at Ion first year it opened. Had to be in a hotel for a few months because my room wasn’t ready. That was actually awesome.
It was The Standard then something else then Ion.
That place has been a shite hole from the beginning. But it’s run by student managers and of course is 99% LSU students who destroy the place. There’s not much that can be done when the residents who live there are actively destroying it.

I was coming to post this after reading the story online. This is beyond sad and an absolute indictment of how far standards have dipped as a society for the privilege of attending a university.
This individual has no business being enrolled at an institution of higher learning, and no institution that has lowered standards this much should be allowed to consider itself one of higher learning.
Civilization’s decline continues.

Yeah my son (returning Junior) just found out they ran out of parking passes?!?! WTF??? How do you math that? Bunch a morons running that place right now.

This isn’t uncommon for universities. My son started at TCU this week. Freshmen are required to live on campus even if local and aren’t allowed to have vehicles due to limited parking availability. Exceptions are made on a case by case basis, usually if the student has a sick parent requiring support or care. They did have a lottery for the few leftover parking spots and my son lucked out with one but it’s all the way across campus from his dorm.
Several other universities we considered also had limited parking passes available with incoming freshmen being last in line for a pass.
