Aldi really is the Dollar Tree of grocery stores

I went for a specific product that they apparently “always” have. Shelves were half full, employees were not helpful, it made the Winn Dixie that used to be there look amazing. Asked if they had macadamia nuts and the girl looked at me like I had two heads. She had no clue what that was. Needless to say no macadamia nuts and no soup mix that they “always” carry. Is it just this location, or are they all like this?

They have them. Just look for the sign that says Aldi's Nuts.

I shop at 3 different Alidi's (Jacksonville) depending on what other stores I need to pick things up at and I have never once experienced this. They are all clean, well stocked and generally nice to go to.
I did go to a Win Dixie that was converting to an Aldi and it was a mess but it was doing a going through a going out of business sale to clear the inventory. To me this is expected if they are trying to empty everything.

Seems like there's only 2 or 3 in the store anyway. Their shoplifting losses will be through the roof.

I assume this is the Aldi on Airline in Metairie... I went there and the Black register girl was all nice to the Black couple in front of me and surly to me... I had a box in the basket and she proceeded to scan the items and put them back in the basket and not in the box... Just a petty racist B. I so badly wanted to say "Kiss my furry White butt"....

probably just a local thing. As in anywhere in Louisiana. If you want a retail establishment that prides itself on service to suffer from poor service, open a location in Louisiana. Its uncanny.

That’s where you fricked up. Aldi is good if you don’t have to have specific items. If you need something specific it’s not the place to go.

NOLA is the problem, as usual. The Aldi near my place in Houston is always stocked.

Yep, I went to the one on Airline across from Walmart in Prairieville, where Winn Dixie used to be. It was plain terrible. I don't see how it survives.

My in-laws shop at one in Peachtree City GA and like it. I’ve been to 2; one in a suburb of DC and the one you’re referencing. Both were shitholes and warrant the Dollar Tree of grocery stores title you gave them. Admittedly not a large sampling of stores but enough for me not to go into another ALDI.

I love Aldi but it’s not a place you go for the customer service. It’s very much a self-service operation and the aesthetics aren’t exactly appealing. But most of their products are equal to or greater in quality for less than other stores. I usually go to the Little Rock location and there’s only been one time I can remember that it wasn’t well-stocked. That happens regularly at pretty much every Kroger in town.

Which location? I shop at Aldi all the time and have never encountered any of those issues other than them occasionally not having things, which happens at any grocery store.

I hate that the Winn Dixie in Prairieville became an Aldi. It really does feel like the Dollar General of grocery stores. They suck.

The one in Lafayette is fine, IMO.
ETA: don't get me wrong, I much prefer the shopping experience at Fresh Market and that is where I go most of the time, but my wife will go on an Aldi shopping trip every other week or so and it's much cheaper.

Chocolate
Wine
Cheese
Cereal for the kids
sourdough bread
Ice Cream
That's about the only things that are worth it. It is cheap for pretty good quality items if you can find them

I'm guessing it varies by location. My local one in Georgia is great. I get all my staples there and supplement that with stuff from Kroger and hygiene stuff from Walmart.

maybe it's because I usually go at lunch but there's always way too many people in line for there to be only one checkout open.

This is the one by the Saints facility on Airline in Metairie. Not even in NOLA
