LSU Practice Report - August 18
Posted on 8/18/25 at 12:23 pm

Today was a no practice/walkthrough day with only shells and media only got to watch the first three periods so not much to take away. Media will be able to watch the entire practice tomorrow so we will get more info. This is per Hunt Palmer
Takeaways:
- Perkins was not present.
- Whit was in no pads and tennis shoes. Another rest day for him.
- Carius Curne played right tackle Weston Davis worked with the second team. Curne has almost exclusively played left tackle with the second team thus far in fall practice.
- Paul Mubenga was the first team left guard, and DJ Chester was the second team center.
- Jardin Gilbert was at star in place of Perkins.
- PJ Woodland also getting some first team reps opposite of Mansoor Delane

Exclusively. A few typos from Hunt today

To be fair, he was explosive when he played left tackle

Any word on Perk?
BK likes to give his stars rest days so I’m sure this is nothing or very explainable.

I wonder if they don't believe in Davis or is this is Curne being first off the bench if a tackle goes down.
Was hoping someone else would step up at LG to put Mubenga and Chester on the bench.

Davis has been really good so I think its just reps being given

Curne needs to be our LG

Why? Davis, Kelly , Sloan, and Atkins know what they are doing.

It appears that the two next up player's in case of injury, continue to get heavy reps just in case they are needed at anytime. We all saw the disaster last year when Dellinger went down.

That disaster is currently your starting left guard

Chester at starting Center was the biggest disaster last year.

agree, very disappointed that Mubenga is considered even close to the best we have a LG. I can't believe that Carne, based on strength alone, wouldn't be a better fit than Mubenga at LG. If one goes back and watches plays from last year, it is appalling that he could be a starter on a top college football team. Maybe he has improved that much, but that would be the most unexpected thing about this team if he has.

Hope Perkins is okay and its just a rest day or personal time away.
