Seems like a coach you'd want to play for.

It would be very frustrating to recruit a guy for a couple years, have a great freshman season and then bam off to Michigan State to be a backup.

What every G6 program has to deal with now because of this bullshite.

NIL by itself? Fine.

But this no sit transfer portal makes it impossible for a coach like him to build real consistency in a roster.

At the end of the day the players deserve some compensation but he’s right about what this has created and it’s not good for those in it only for $

It doesn’t improve your nfl chances no matter how much $ you make in college and you better have something to fall back on because 3/4 years flies by in no time unless your pavia who may sue for another year.

I know people will call me crazy for this but if I was the coach of a MAC level team I would make all the recruits sign a four year legally binding contract to be at the school... that means you are on scholarship for all four years even if you suck and you will graduate unless you break certain rules. After you graduate you can go play a different sport at a different school if you want. Loyalty is as good as dead.

In 40 years our country is gonna have abunch of broke people wanting to retire... lol because they had 30 jobs in 40 years.

One of the first times I've heard the coach mention the parents/family..

Honestly I think that's the biggest problem here -- a kid is perfectly content starting at NIU or wherever, but mom and boyfriend and his friends from high school are in his ear telling him to go get that bag!

Then goes sit the bench at a P4 school for $25k and have those same people with their hand out wanting some cash

Why not? No one follows the rules anyway...

I understand the logic behind compensating the players, but I always get stuck on the fact that every single college athlete voluntarily chooses to participate. If you don’t want to play for “free” then don’t.

It’s so disingenuous to act like tuition, fees, etc. isn’t enough compensation for something you chose to do knowing full well what the rules are. Also ignores that just those things come with the opportunity of a lifetime.

Instead, those opportunities will continue to dwindle for more and more kids so that the elite can get paid a couple years earlier. The same kids who would have eventually made the millions in the old system.

I guess everything gets ruined eventually and it’s usually because of greed.

Because not a single fricking kid is signing a 4 year contract and you won’t have a team.

Some would. You might not be very good though.

Or to Eastern Michigan to learn from a Knigga. Seriously though, it sucks for these Non-P5 schools where you never know if a kid you recruit is just using the experience as a stepping stone to another school a year or two years out.

Athlete entitlement has no peer

With the way it’s going, at some point blue chips will demand control over snap counts. And I don’t mean guaranteed playing time, I’m talking the ability to choose not to play and still be compensated

The justification will be avoiding injury risk and the university’s association with what they’ll do as pro athletes being of greater value to the institution long term than anything they could do on the field at the collegiate level

question, is every FBS school allowed to pay what they can afford for players now? or are certain things only available to the P4?

The man is Full of shite, it's easy to say what you would do, after the fact, but when the situation presents itself then it's much different

Coaches: "The NIL system is broken. Kids switching schools so often is chaos."

Same coaches who leave their coaching position for one that pays more:

It’s the reality for G5 teams of being a feeder system for P5 teams. It can work in their favor too, if a kid isn’t getting PT with a P5 team then he might look at a G5 school to get film.

This version of college football is just minor leagues without contracts.

I believe this will be the next big change. I can see a 1 transfer with a no sit rule but after that (there could/should be some exceptions) the player would have to sit.

So then would you honor your contract? If you were coaching Ohio and you had a great record and 3 years into your 5 year contract Ohio St offered you a contract that is 5 or 6 times your salary at Ohio would you turn it down because of loyalty?
