Who will step up to replace Josh Williams’ production?

this board is so focused on the Oline being the main concern right now (which is warranted), but who’s going to reliably pick up the blitzing linebacker or chip before they head out of the backfield?
It’s gotta be Caden Durham or Kaleb Jackson (or hopefully both). Have they grown enough this off-season to deliver?

Not sure, but I know I'll miss that guy. A lot, but hopefully not a lot.

Maybe even Berry

Maybe you mean “protection” instead of production?
Durham will be the lead guy this year & it will be Jackson or Berry filling in

Wish casting KJ. I had high hopes for him after that run against Mississippi State.

Both. Josh Williams is one of the best pass protectors at RB we’ve had.

He was the best on the roster, but let's not go crazy

I am not going to shite on Josh Williams. He played his arse off for LSU.
BUT
His carries going to a RB with the ability to hit the HR is a net positive.
We will miss JW's toughness as a blocker most IMO.

Exactly, and if we don’t have it, teams will tee off on us blitzing, and our passing game will go to shite

His leadership as #18, team captain, and maturity as a 6th year senior will be missed more than any on-field productivity.

Let them blitz, that means fewer players coverage and more room for the WRs and TEs.

You might see LSU attack the blitz by releasing the RB more than in previous years with Berry in and Durham. Those guys in a little space are a big problem for defenses...especially with the speed we have on the outside now.

So what you're saying is, that feel Josh Williams a protection RB and not a productive RB? However he was LSU's #2 RB last year in rushing yards and was tied with Durham w/6TDs. After that, if you look at TDs alone and not yds.... Nuss was third w/3TDs.

While Williams was never going to be a threat to break a 70 yard TD run like Durham, he made a LOT of winning plays, plays that don't necessarily show up in the box score. He was a reliable receiver out of the backfield who could make guys miss, he was a relentless blocker, and (really until last season) was often clutch on 3rd down. I'm not saying Durham can't do all of that. It's just that he hasn't been asked to do a ton besides running and, to a lesser extent, catching passes out of the backfield. In a "gotta have it moment" the coaches trusted Williams completely.
The "numbers", i.e. rushing yards, receptions, etc can be replaced by Durham. It's the implicit trust that he will do whatever is asked of him on a critical play is where the loss of Williams may be felt.

No I’m not saying anything about his production last year…. OP’s question seemed to focus on his “protection” & blocking abilities

Who's going to be Leonard Fournette or Joe Burrow?

Yes he was. He had some huge 3rd down conversions in the 2022 Bama game that were reminiscent of CEH. Also, when he made that spin move TD to take the lead against Bama in 2023 I lost my shite and thought we were about to run away with the game. Then Jalen Milroe happened
