Morning everyone.

My only remaining sibling called last night with a bunch of news. BIL has spent a couple of years looking at jobs to get away from CVS. He is now going to be the COO of a medium sized pharmaceutical company based just outside Atlanta with about 150 employees under his supervision. So my sister is left to basically handle selling the house, buying a new house, and moving all their stuff while looking for work herself.

Their daughter, my only niece, has accepted her bf’s marriage proposal and they are looking at houses just north of Atlanta.

In the meantime my BIL sister who is widowed and not always sane has called to borrow a bunch of money as she is about to lose her house again and her adopted adult son with mental issues can’t hold a job as a teacher. So sis and family get to deal with that while moving and leaving those two behind.

Kinda makes you feel not so bad about your own situation while you sip that morning coffee.

Hope everyone has a great day, almost Friday, hang in there!

Good morning everyone.

I was almost done with this "on this day in history" and I was scrolling up to add something and accidentally pulled my screen down too much on my phone and refreshed and lost everything.

I'll try to gather myself and post it again. Such difficult and trying times that I'm not confident I can make it.

Ok, I got it together and back better than ever

On this day in history:

1457
The first book printed in Europe with a colophon bearing the name of the printer was completed in Mainz, Germany.

1842
US Army Colonel Worth declares the Second Seminole War over after nearly seven years; over 3,000 surviving members of the Seminole Nation are forcibly relocated from Florida to Oklahoma, with only about 300 permitted to remain.

1880
Cologne Cathedral completed
Originally started in 1248, construction of the cathedral (Kölner Dom) in Cologne, Germany—the largest Gothic church in northern Europe and the city's major landmark—was finally completed on this day in 1880.

1900
An international force seized Beijing to crush the Boxer Rebellion.

1909
Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana, home of the Indy 500, hosts its first motorized event, a series of motorcycle races.

1917
China declared war on Germany and Austria-Hungary during World War I.

1935
U.S. Pres. Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act, establishing a permanent national old-age pension system through employer and employee contributions.

1941
British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued the Atlantic Charter, a joint declaration that stated, among other points, that they desired no territorial changes without the free assent of the peoples concerned.

1945
V-J Day, the Empire of Japan surrenders unconditionally to the Allies, ending World War II (August 15 in Japan and other countries depending on the time zone).

1947
Pakistan became a sovereign state, bringing an end to British rule there.

1971
Stanford prison experiments begin
The controversial Stanford prison experiments to study the effects of authority in a prison setting began. The experiment had to be shut down by the 6th day because of the adverse effect on the subjects.

1994
Venezuelan militant Carlos the Jackal, who orchestrated some of the highest-profile terrorist attacks of the 1970s and '80s, was captured by French agents in Sudan; he was later sentenced to life in prison for his crimes.

2016
Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt won the 100-metres at the Rio de Janeiro Games, becoming the first person to win the event in three consecutive Olympics; he later claimed an unprecedented third straight gold medal in the 200-metres.

Hope everyone has a great day!
