LSU strength of schedule

Sheesh I just took a look at the schedule now that rankings have dropped and good lord. Of the 12 teams we play, 7 are ranked preseason. And ofc, some of those are likely not genuine top 25 teams as the season drags on, but shows the talent is there. We play the #4, #8, #13, #15, #18, #19, and #21 teams in the country.
And our only non-ranked Power 4 conf opponents are Arky (who thinks we’re their Super Bowl and beat Tenn at Neyland last year) and Vandy (who returns Pavia and beat Bama last year), two usually weak teams prone to upsetting major players. I think LSU will have a really solid team this year, probably our best overall squad since 2019 but dang, the SEC super conference schedule will give us no breaks

Going to be very tough with an oline with very limited SEC experience.

Shoot didn’t always use to be like this. We used to at least get Miss St and Auburn (who depending on the year could be good or not). Conference is a gauntlet luck of the draw with the way they schedule now

Texas really has been gifted 2 cupcake schedules SEC wise
Luckily they get Ohio State week 1 this season

PRE-SEASON ranked teams. If memory serves me, A&M was preseason number 1? How’d that turn out?
Pre-season rankings are useless. Play the games. By October, you’ll know who is real and who is the pretender.

…and beyond. This should be priority number one for the league: schedule equity. Find a way.

I'd be pissed as frick if Texas isn't given the absolute most difficult schedule next year.

They aren’t sneaking up on anyone this year. Pavia has been running his mouth all summer. Watched Crain and Co the other day and they said the SEC is gonna put Vandy back in their rightful place.

Doesnt change fact that the teams lsu plays, 7-9 of them have top 25 talent top to bottom on the roster. Vs Michigan having 1 of those on the schedule. People who bump the big 10 as a whole comparable to the sec is a joke. Take out 5 teams and it's a shite show of a league. And they get lucky and only have to play 1-3 of them a year.
Sure end or year rankings will hurt and 8-4 sec vs. 10-2 big 12 team.. but that's where the rankings have f up the last decade. It's shifted to win total, vs quality of wins

Like these?
Vandy
Missouri
Miss State
Auburn
Kentucky
OU was garbage last year and now they are ranked and considered by many, a dark-horse to make the playoffs. "This is a ten-win team with a six-win schedule, but it should be far, far better than last year's version, and it should win its share of nasty games”
BOTOM LINE … Last year is last year. No one has any idea how “strong” a schedule is or how good a team REALLY is. If that was the case, give Arch the Heisman and Penn Sate or Texas the Natty.
Here are the 2024 results

Unless you’re Texas texas, mizzou, and Tennessee have blessed schedules

Texas plays at Ohio St, at Florida, & at Georgia. That's not that easy of a schedule imo

Verge is an absolute moron when it comes to scheduling Week 1 games. Three of our last four Week 1 opponents were against top 10 opponents. Doesn’t matter how much of a powerhouse a program is, it’s always going to be extremely difficult to be ready for a Week 1 top-10 matchup when half of your roster consists of transfers who have barely known each other for the past 8 months.
