I stay below. Housing and auto expenses always extremely low ratios of our income compared to national standards. We spend a lot on travel though.
I have a healthy paranoia about financial security and usually melt down on my wife twice a year to throttle it down.

I make diddly squat and as a result I don’t spend much. But I am happy. Not in debt, so I can’t say I’m living above my means.

Right at and its honestly frustrating as frick. I have an upper level 6 fig job, but wife doesnt work and we have a 3 year old. So basically I have just enough of cover mortgage all insurance, bills, food and whatever we do w the kid on the weekend. Basically throw one suprise expense (ac repair, new tires) and im breaking dead even for the month.
Wife kinda wants another kid snd not gonna lie one of my reasons why no is I want my lifestyle to start to match the heavy arse load I have at work.... I dont need a bently but this shite is tiring.

Below. Zero credit card debt. No outstanding loans other than a mortgage.

Below. I live a way less comfortable life than I did in college. Mainly because my wife insists on a monk-like existence of denial. Most big spending is for income producing/non depreciating assets although I’ll need a new truck sooner or later.

I’ve always tried to live below, plus am always house poor with rentals, and definitely keep it well below my earning power (not necessarily income any given year, because I make family a priority).
These days I feel like I couldn’t make much less than I do now and feel responsible.

My wife and I both make around the same amount of money, for argument let's say overall about 320k pre-tax.
We are both maxing out our 401ks, I am backdooring my Roth, and we are contributing probably around 20k in regular dollars to our financial planner. Our house cost us 480k, of which we financed around 380k at 7.45%. We are aggressively paying it down, usually adding an extra 1.3 or 1.4k per payment. We do not have kids yet, but do have a side hustle and plans for at least one more possibly two.
I spend money, notably on guns and hobbies, but I'd say entertainment spending (going out, vacation, breweries, guns, subscriptions, ect) is less than 10k a year. Both cars are fully paid off, though assuming we can have kids we will probably buy a Highlander or something. We cook most nights and I bring lunch to the office 4 days out of 5. We will be upgrading the house within reason, and starting to hit up estate sales for furniture. I'd say we live within our means, but I'm still scared for the future as I think we are headed to a world of haves and have nots, and no middle class.

Right at my income. I wish I could save more money but I pretty much live paycheck to paycheck. 4 kids are expensive. I do put a lot towards retirement though.

Below. I’m frugal.
