An annual study conducted by MoneyGeek examines the ‘most dangerous’ commutes in the country. To determine this, they looked at the average number of fatal crashes per year during the morning commute hours in over 100 of the largest cities in the U.S.
Landing at the top of the list with the “most dangerous” commute is Memphis, Tennessee, where the fatal crash rate is 0.84 per 100,000 residents during morning rush hours.
Not far behind is Tucson, Arizona, with a 0.80 fatal crash rate, followed by Lexington-Fayette, Kentucky (0.71) and then Greensboro-High Point, North Carolina (0.70).

I saw Memphis and I was expecting murders, not crashes

I travel through Memphis daily. I saw more wrecks in Baton Rouge. Fork, BR is also on the list.

Atlanta low fatality because it only moves at 3mph.

Obligatory my commute is from my bed through my bathroom and kitchen to snag a cup of coffee and to my desk

You have to go through your bathroom to get to your kitchen?

Well yeah. I have to pee first

I'd argue that my commute (which many of us may share), from the bedroom to home office dodging LEGOs, a crawling baby, dog, and un-caffeinated wife, is one of the most dangerous commutes out there.

Every time I drive through/by the Dangerous Curve in Winston Salem; I wonder what the big deal is about.
Surely it will get me now.

BR would be infinitely safer if you cut out the racecar wannabes and the low IQ drivers.
Then again, that's probably true for all places

Driving on the interstate in Memphis is what I imagine driving in a NASCAR race would be like. Lots of twists and turns and everyone driving a million MPH

Wild that so many deaths can occur in br traffic jams.

Kellogg road in Wichita has to be up there. East-west road so you have to deal with the sun and people drive like absolute fricking retards on a constant basis. I almost got wrecked twice yesterday from clowns bobbing and weaving out of traffic and I can probably count more days that has happened that days it hasn’t this year.

not sure this list is valid if it doesn’t mention I-45 in Houston.

I’ll contend the strip of interstate from the high rise in New Orleans East to the twin spans in Slidell is the single most dangerous stretch of road in the country.
I think you could start bump drafting and nobody would even flinch.

Was Baton Rouge traffic bad before Katrina? Was it easier to move around town or has it always been bad due to poor design?
