Our QB, RB, and wide receivers are very good, but basically will be the same output as last year.

Entire o-line is being replaced outside of Chester, huge question mark.

Entire secondary is transfers outside of Stamps who is sort of mid, also huge question mark.

Our LB unit is supposed to be “elite”, but Perkins has not been himself for years. The older weeks brother is not good. The whole unit itself was pretty average last year? So how is it going to be so elite? Good, maybe. But elite? Seems like a stretch.

D-line - two solid guys inside but are first time starters. Two transfers on the outside. Guess it will be a decent unit, but again, nothing about our d-line over the past 4 years has been impressive. I don’t think it’s safe to assume this a strength.

Our kicker blows.

To summarize, our offense will be the same but with a likely worse o-line. Defense is being patched up with transfers and we just hope for the best with a new coach? Outside of everyone else in the SEC kind of sucking I don’t really see why people are so high on us or why our level will be very different vs last year.

Edit: I’m genuinely curious where I’m wrong here. Why are people assuming we will be so much better this year. What has actually, tangibly improved?

Would try to refute your ill-conceived and off-base analysis, but I don't speaker retard...

Well, our kicker didn't really blow last year, unless I missed that part.

Every single team has "huge question marks" in the offseason. That's just how modern college football works. The rosters are being shuffled around more than ever.

That being said, we have about as good of a chance as anyone to compete for a natty.

Yeah, maybe this is the answer, that other teams simply have a lot more question marks than us.

Is this your first time visiting this board? It's the natural cycle of things. You'll be shocked to see what happens if Clemson scores first

Just say you're a dumbass and have absolutely 0 clue as to who is even on the roster right now. That'd be closer to the truth. Okay, here are some "tangible" reasons why we will be better:

quote:

Entire secondary is transfers outside of Stamps who is sort of mid, also huge question mark.

We got 3 Top Rated transfer DBs who accounted for 18 turnovers last year, also 5 star DJ picket. Our 2 Safeties are rated on On3 as Top 10 Safeties in country. We are only team with 2 Top 10 safeties in the country.
quote:

D-line - two solid guys inside but are first time starters. Two transfers on the outside. Guess it will be a decent unit, but again, nothing about our d-line over the past 4 years has been impressive. I don’t think it’s safe to assume this a strength.

Patrick Payton is playing 2nd team right now. He has 32 TFLs and 17 sacks in his career. And he is playing 2nd team. I read on ESPN "Bernard Gooden had 27 QB pressures from interior last year, that ranks 2nd in G5 schools." There's 70 G5 teams. 2 DTs start per team. That's 140 DTs in G5. He ranked 2nd of 140 in interior pressures.

Add in that Blake Baker brought the defense from finishing 110th to 60th in yards per game allowed last year, brought in much better talent via portal, I think we enter Top 25

quote:

To summarize, our offense will be the same but with a likely worse o-line.

We picked up the 2 of the Top 3 WRs in the portal and a very elite WR healthy, Nic Anderson who set an OU freshman record with 800 yards, 21.0 ypc (basically 1/3rd field from touchback), and 10 TDs. Barion Brown who has 6 kickoff returns for TDs. Chris Hilton who had 200+ yards and 3 TDs in last 2 games when finally healthy showed what he can do when healthy. He destroyed DBs and caught 3 passes vs OU and Baylor where he was 7 yards past DBs when he caught the ball bc of how fast he is.
quote:

Our LB unit is supposed to be “elite”, but Perkins has not been himself for years

Perkins played MLB and tore an ACL over last 2 years which he played 1.2 years. He didn't play a position the last 2 years in which he could be his "old form". He's moving back to what he was when he wrecked shop

quote:

Our kicker blows.

Apparently Burrell might beat Ramos out as Burrell can make it from 65 and is more accurate so far in camp

quote:

I’m genuinely curious where I’m wrong here. Why are people assuming we will be so much better this year. What has actually, tangibly improved?

You're genuinely curious why you're wrong, I tell you why you're wrong and gave several "tangible" reason, then you downvoted me

That and BK has yet to have this team prepared for an opener.

Hence why the line is moving Clemon's way by the day.

Qb- year 2 starter with yr of sec under the belt
Rb- durham, best rb last yr will now start vs waiting games to get pt, add 5 star rb to depth
Wr- way deeper and faster with brown/ anderson adds, healthy Hilton from game 1, + continuity of anderson, Hilton, Thomas, Parker, green yr 2 with nuss
Oline- adams and davis at tackle who were top 150 recruits, chester at guard also top.150 recruit, and a center and guard from va tech and northwestern that everyone wanted in the portal.
Te- receiving flex green, hybrid sharp, blocking green give us most te flexibility/ aged depth we've had in 5 years there.

Defense

De: way deeper adding 3 sr portal guys + reliford, that doesnt count rs jackson
Dt: 3 starters back, add gooden who gave bama fits, tx kid for run stop downs, and 3 fr dt
Lb: if healthy, have 2 elite kids at the 3 spots, and 2 returning kids at the other, + braker / Ross who are as dynamic talents at lb as we've seen at lsu

Secondary: legit starters added to cb1, ss, fs, 5 star from in mix for cb 2/3, and all reports showing woodland and stamps having strong camps, another year under their belt.

Were deeper, more experienced, more talented at every position group, except oline vs last yr. And that group has better depth this year, just unsure how 5 new guys will mesh together.

For the most part, you are assuming no improvement from 1 year to the next, which is ignorant. Players usually get better over time with more experience.

We’ve added a lot of new/better pieces. You just seem uninformed about the roster overall

Perkins was the highest graded LB in coverage 2 years ago. WTF are you talking about? Just because they didn't edge blitz the 220lber doesn't mean he "wasn't himself". They used him differently at his request. He still made plays.
