quote:The 67-year-old Democrat angered Cincinnati’s police union boss, who blasted Parks for the comments and called for her resignation.
An Ohio city council member disturbingly claimed that the victims of the Cincinnati downtown brawl were asking to be assaulted during the ruthless mob attack. “They asked for that beatdown,” Cincinnati Councilwoman Victoria Parks replied to video of the July 27 brawl on Facebook. “I am grateful for the whole story,” she added.
quote:A white man and a woman appeared to be relentlessly targeted by a group of largely black assailants, according to the viral footage.
This highlights the poor political environment that police officers, residents and visitors are currently enduring. Thankfully, there’s an election in November. I urge voters to vote for change!” State Rep. Phil Plummer (R-Montgomery) also demanded Parks step down. “Cincinnati Councilwoman Victoria Parks must resign immediately! Defending violent criminals who viciously beat innocent people is disgusting,” Plummer said on X. “Her words ‘They begged for that beat down!’ are outrageous. Prosecutors must charge the attackers with a hate crime. We must protect our streets!”
The two victims were brutally punched as they lay defenseless on the ground.
The unidentified female was knocked out cold during the savage attack.
quote:
Montianez Merriweather, 34, Dekyra Vernon, 24, and Jermaine Matthews, 39, were all slapped with charges including felonious assault and aggravated riot.

quote:They are hunting us
In her official city biography page, Parks says she “led the charge in passing Racism as a Public Health Crisis” when working for Hamilton County.

Certain posters will be missing in this thread
Do they consider this “restorative justice?”

What blows my mind is that she’s doubled down on it: LINK
Eta: can’t seem to get around the paywall….
Parks defended her statement by invoking freedom of speech and comparing the situation to yelling "fire" in a crowded theater.
Fellow Councilwoman Meeka Owens condemned Parks' comments, stating they inflamed the situation and did not reflect the views of the council.
The brawl, which took place in downtown Cincinnati, led to three arrests and sparked a national debate on social media.
Councilwoman Victoria Parks isn't backing down from her Facebook post on the viral brawl that "they deserved a beat down."
The post has drawn a nationwide backlash online, particularly from conservative influencers and politicians. Parks, on July 31, responded to the controversy by invoking free speech.
"In this country, we have freedom of speech, however, you may not run into a crowded theater and scream fire," Parks told The Enquirer.
She said someone in the brawl said something akin to screaming fire in a crowded theater. The person didn't scream fire, she said. This is likely referencing the analogy Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes made in a 1919 case that yelling "fire" in a crowded theater is not protected by the First Amendment.
"He was in a crowded theater, and he screamed fire," Parks said. "There are unintended consequences, but that’s what happened."
Parks wouldn't say what was said in the brawl, how she knows it, or what instigated the fight.
"It’s a metaphor," Parks said of her analogy of a crowded theater. "I’m just going to let people draw their own conclusion. That’s my statement."

How's come these same people never say the criminals resisting arrest and fighting the police were "begging for that beat down"?

So, the whole event was a FAFO?

Has nothing to do with free speech. It's about violent assault. That's it.

I haven't followed the response stories yet.
Has this "whole story" been reported yet? I think the Chief of Police made several similar references.

Without actually coming out and saying it, she’s trying to intimate that one of the men who was attacked said something to incite the attack, and it was therefor justified. She’s just oddly obtuse in her phrasing.

I enjoyed the mother of one of the assailants who said “he’s a good man. He has 5 kids, and he’s on the honor roll.”
I really don’t know what to make of this. If he has 5 kids shouldn’t he be working like 70 hours a week? If he’s in some kind of college, does he have a job at all? I’d really love to get more info on this guy. My theory is the dude has 5 kids, probably with multiple moms, and either doesn’t work or only works part time while attending some sort of schooling on taxpayers dime.

That’s exactly what is happening. And it will eventually swing back and the retards will be even more retarded.
She’s setting the stage for a bullshite “N-word was uttered” excuse.

Anyone that has paid attention to the words of leftist politicians at all levels since 2008 should not be surprised by any of this.
It can't be said enough: These people hate you and want you dead.
For all we know, the victims may have voted for the people that want them dead. Does that matter? Nope. They "appear" to fit the profile these progressives hate, so they deserve to be beat, jailed, or worse.

I haven't heard of this story, but just found/watched the video. Holy shite. And that one dude at the end who laid out that girl...what a piece of shite.
I love how there were about 20+ people beating on these people, and about 2-3 people actually trying to help them. And all anybody else did was video it on their phones and yell/hype it up. What a society.
