I see a lot of robot vacuum companies today offer mopping. I don't want that. I have a wet/dry cordless vacuum that works great. I'm simply looking for something that will help pick up dog hair, dust, and small bits of debris brought in from outside. All of my floors are either tile or wood.

Roborock appears to have great reviews, but some models can get fairly costly.

I know that I want one that has doesn't allow for hair to get tangled on its brushes, decent battery, great mapping, and can self-empty.

Any suggestions?

Ive always used Roomba 800 series and theyve worked fine. My old dog had a fresh new coat of hair every week. Without the Roomba I would be insane.

My MIL just gifted us with a dirt devil robot vacuum... it does well for the shedding off my golden retriever. It is definitely kind of loud.

Not sure how you feel about Consumer Reports' recommendations, but they have six recommendations.

No problem. To me, their methodology is still as good as anything you find. If there is stuff that I think is irrelevant to my decision (like how green it is), I just ignore that. I mostly look at whether it does the things I want well, plus the reliability and owner satisfaction.

Does it have a good cleaning pattern? I ask, because the last time I had one -- well over 12 years ago, I never could figure out its pattern and I think it missed quite a few rooms.

You'll be impressed w/ a decade of improvement...I was after similar hiatus.

LIDAR mapping/cleaning & self empty dock are F'n outstanding and must have features.

We have Roborock Q5 MAX+ upstairs and Q35A downstairs. If either broke tmrw I'd have another on order immediately.

Don't sleep on the mopping feature, it's legit! We have an indoor/outdoor Golden Retriever... needless to say I was skeptical about Robot mop. Game changer 100%

Ive had the Roomba j7+ for about 3 years and its been solid. You're going to want one that's self emptying.

My wife's dog mauls the thing about once per week so it looks like it landed at Normandy. Still does fine.

That’s what I’ve had for the past couple of years. Thoroughly impressed with it.

Just ordered the Q5 Max+.

for the recommendations! $279 + tax at Amazon. I compared against the eufy Auto-Empty C10 ($250.00 off or about the same price as the Q5 Max+).

It's very smart. Kind of amazing the way it cleans. I also have an old Roomba. It's definitely not the same tech

Wyze has been solid for me for the last 7-8 years. Pretty hard to beat for the price.

I also have the roborock Q5+ and its honestly head and shoulders above anything I previously had. You made a good decision. For the price it is probably hard to beat.

Literally just ordered the Roborock Q5+ prior to seeing this thread. Our roomba has gone on permanent strike it seems. Same boat as you, only wanted vacuum and this seemed to be the way to go for vacuum only versions.

Mine arrives today. Based on the recommendations here, and from what I also read on Reddit and Amazon, and for the price, it looks like we are getting a good robot vacuum only, which is exactly what I wanted.

A longer term rec for a Roborock. I have an S7 that's a few years old and it's still working great. Maintenance parts are easy replaced and it does a great job picking up hair and cat litter.

frick irobot

we had a 400 series for the last month i got for 'half price' on prime day and let me tell you my experience

$599 Roomba Plus 405

* the house mapping went great, until it didnt. after carefully labelling everything and running the vac a couple of days it inexplicably 'lost' the map and remapped w/ all my merged areas, named rooms, etc. gone. here's the kicker..the old map w/ named rooms was still there..somewhere..the app was confused and it lost all my cleaning history 'cards'. a month later and its still not working right despite deleting and starting over

* the app is SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. if the vac has started and you try to hit 'cancel' or 'pause' you'll be waiting 5 minutes for it to respond and most of the time you have to hit the button more than once before it responds

* app is crap. like i mentioned it lost 'cards' of previous cleaning patterns and doesnt allow you to set up and name multiple cleaning types (vac only, just certain high-traffic rooms, etc).

* we have roughly 2500sf on the first floor..which we COMPLETELY replaced all flooring with LVP when we moved in a year ago and maybe a couple of thin 8x10 rugs. couldn't be any easier. yet on the 'default' mode of vac/mop, the vac is ALWAYS losing a mop head and just sits there not doing jackshit

* as a corollary of the above, i've disabled the mop feature entirely because wtf; i can't babysit this thing and fix it every time it throws a mop head out so i set it to 'vacuum only'. the vacuum only cleans a room and the dog hair and dirt fills up the bin on the vac immediately so by the time its done, its not vacumming JACK shite and just pushing dirt around the rooms.

HOW ABOUT A frickING SENSOR THAT ITS FULL and return to the base & empty it.

fricking worthless.

* the kicker, the base is unable to suck the jam out so i have to 'finger' it out of the vac because there is NO REMOVABLE BIN on the vac to clean it. i just have to reach in there and pull the shite out until its mostly gone or stick a screwdriver in there to help free stuff.

* there was NO frickING MANUAL included; just a fricking QR code and when i go online to look up how to take it apart the instructions are NEVER EVER for this model; this stupid fricking thing wont come apart at all to get in there and clean it. all you can do is remove the little roller thingie and finger it.

TL;DR; Mrs CAD is a neat-freak and keeps our house almost immaculate and yet this stupid robot breaks down every single time it cleans and the bin gets jammed w/ stuff EVERY SINGLE TIME and so its doing absolutely nothing.

TL;DR2 - i'm returning it to amazon after almost a MONTH of giving it every chance to work. they offered me $80 to keep it and i was like NOPE

TL;DR3 - I just ordered a roborok Q8 as a replacement so we'll see how it does.

very VERY disappointed in roomba.
