RIP Flaco Jimenez, the best Tex-Mex accordion player.

Of course I immediately think of the former Ravens QB.

Spelling counts...

Also happens to be the only TexMex accordion player I could name. Mainly because of the Texas Tornadoes.

I was thinking of the Rock Me Amadeus guy, but he died in the 90s.

Did not know he died. My sister bought that cassette, unfortunately Rock Me Amadeus was the only song we could understand and the only one worth a shite.

RIP Flaco.

Only one Tornado left, August Meyers. He is 85

Flaco Jiminez March 11, 1939 - July 31, 2025 (aged 86)

Freddy Fender June 4, 1937 - October 14, 2006 (aged 69)

Doug Sahm November 6, 1941 - November 18, 1999 (aged 58)

My old roommate was the guy who told me about Flaco. I knew that the Texas Tornados existed because of Freddy Fender, but I didn't know anyone else in the band until then.

He was a norteno legend. RIP, Flaco. San Antonio is sad today.

The Texas Tornados were a super group. Augie the last to hold on. All born in San Antonio with the exception of Freddy (San Benito).
