My youngest owns a tire/lift kit shop.

Says he's got more work than he can do.

I think his prices are way too low.

For instance, he recently did a 2" lift kit on an F150.

He charged them $200.

Seems like he could be asking twice that.

What are the OT's thoughts?

If he's got more work than he can do, he'd probably be wise to increase his prices. Good on him!

Never procured a lift kit but $200 sounds extremely cheap by todays standards.

Probably just a spacer lift so not that difficult but that is about $500 minimum where I'm at.

Hopefully that $200 didn't include parts.

According to google AI, I think you're son should definitely raise his prices.

how much do shops charge to install lift kits on trucks

AI Overview
The cost to have a lift kit professionally installed on a truck varies significantly, but generally ranges from $400 to $2,500 for labor, depending on the complexity of the kit and the shop's rates. The price of the lift kit itself also varies widely, from around $100 for basic leveling kits to $5,000 or more for more advanced suspension lift kits.

Double the price - same revenue, half the work.

DIY is $200-300 for that. Professionally done, $400+.

Maybe he didn't tell you about the twenty minutes with the wife in the backroom.

Not all payments are in cash.

I was recently leveled my truck / 2” lift on the front.

I called three places and the prices were $450, $600, and $900.

Someone I know got theirs done for “about $200” but that shop was over an hour away.

ETA regarding the “equipment” for a 2” lift the pucks are about 30 bucks.

Why would he not find out what the going cost is for this work in his area before setting his prices?
