A city councilman in Virginia was savagely set on fire by a lunatic who stormed into his workplace carrying gallons of fuel and ignited the lawmaker in a sickening attack Wednesday morning.

Danville City Councilman Lee Vogler was allegedly set on fire after Shotsie Michael Buck Hayes, 29, barged into Showcase Magazine, a local monthly publication, and dumped a five-gallon bucket of gasoline on the pol around 11:30 a.m., according to the Danville Police Department and the outlet’s publisher.

Vogler, 38, managed to escape the office and ran to the front of the building, but the monster followed him and set him on fire.

First responders rendered aid to the pol, who identified his suspected attacker at the harrowing scene, before he was airlifted to a hospital in North Carolina.

I do not condone violence but it will happen more and more. We're in an unstable period and people are breaking.

This would never have happened under Biden, the price of gas was too high.

Early reports are this is a personal matter. Not city related.

Fire and Burning is about the worst way to go. I’m not sure there is a more painful way other than medieval torture

Authorities said Vogler and Hayes are known to each other, but added the attack stems from a personal matter that is not related to the councilman’s elected position or political affiliation.

start giving these loons the death penalty in an expedited fashion and you will see that you can deter (some) of this heinous behavior.

Besides being ridiculously soft on mental illness to the point of condoning it, we do the same with violence. The blacks who beat the white couple in Ohio, this white subhuman trash, the subhuman filth that were sexually torturing kids in Alabama, etc all deserve the death penalty. But it needs to happen a lot quicker than 20 years later when no one remembers the brutality of their crimes.

JFC.

Demons like this live amongst us. And people call me an "extremist" because I'm armed to the teeth literally everywhere I go.

In reality, the death penalty is not a deterrent to behavior.
Especially mentally ill behavior.

How would anyone know? It hasn't been used as a deterrent in 50+ years. Hell, given the impediments to implementing it, its never going to be a deterrent. No criminal will take it as such when they get 20 years between conviction and the carrying out of the sentence.

At a minimum, the mentally ill need to be institutionalized. We don't even do that. We leave them on the street to suffer whatever cruel fate befalls them. Lock them up and get them away from society for the safety of both.

And the bastard who did that should be set on fire himself , right from the court room to the fricking fields . Give the victim the opportunity to do the same , if he can’t allow his family to set this POS on fire .

Danville City Councilman J. Lee Vogler, 38, was doused in petrol and set alight at Showcase Magazine's headquarters around 11:30 am by Hayes, 29, who had allegedly stormed into the workspace carrying a five-gallon container of gasoline, according to publisher Andrew Brooks.

Authorities have stated that Vogler and Hayes were acquainted and that the assault stemmed from a 'personal matter', not Vogler's public role. Hayes's wife had filed for divorce just two weeks before the attack. Further details about the nature of their connection remain undisclosed by investigators.
