Do You Remember Buying Your First CD?

What year was it?
What band?
Did you ever buy a cassette tape again?
Did you have a CD player in your car?
I can’t remember
But it was probably around 1990
I would guess and say it was Disintegration by
The Cure that I already had on cassette.
My first car (sophomore year) didn’t have a CD player.
Can’t remember when I finally got one in my car. Definitely by 1992-93.
CD’s were the best!!

I got a cd player for Christmas 1992. Also got some cash, which I used to buy Alice in Chains - Dirt, Metallica - And Justice For All and Nirvana - Incesticide at the mall the next day.

I think it was 1988, age 16. Nice ‘n’ Easy, Frank Sinatra.
I did buy a cassette again! Found The Diabolical Biz Markie (contains the smash hit single “Just A Friend” and its follow up, “It’s Spring Again”) in a bargain bin probably three years later.
Yes to CD players, but our two cars are relatively old.

The Singles soundtrack - bought it in summer of 92. I might have gotten it at the Target in Alexandria. I bought a Sony boombox with a CD player and detachable speakers and I'm thinking I bought the stereo and the CD at the same place.

Rush - Moving Pictures (1983)
No cd player in my vehicle, and I continued to buy cassettes.
My first vehicle (1977 Ford pickup) had an 8-track player in it.

quote:I bought a 2022 vehicle new and it didn’t occur to me to check for a CD player…it does not have one and I am sad about that. They don’t even offer it as an option as I discovered afterwards
Did you have a CD player in your car?

1987
Van Halen s/t
I bought Dice Clay's "The Day the Laughter Died" double cassette at Tape World at the mall in 1990. There may have been others but I remember that one because I got carded when I bought it.
I replaced the factory stereo in my 1989 Chevy Celebrity with a CD player in 1994/5

I honestly don't, and that makes me kinda sad. I remember converting from vinyl to CDs at Murphy's. Talk about make your job easier.

92' Primus Miscellaneous Debris. I did not even have a CD player so I had to borrow my Mom's stereo. Still have that disc today.
